Pieter, welcome to the forum. It would seem that one opf the new fuses is no longer working or making proper contact. Best is to check this fuse with a digital multimeter set to the 'ohms' or even 'diode' scale, it should of course read a dead short. I had the same issue with a gate motor, the blade...

EFI conversion on a 4Y makes an incredible improvement - the engine has more torque and constant down-gearing on hills is a thing of the past. Will still be no racer when towing a caravan though, but who cares? You have the perfect combo for touring and admiring the scenery.

This is correct: "These days if the engine was redone and the head was done properly, ie, valve stem seals there is no need for an additive to the fuel. Not ideal, no. But measure the output voltage at the second battery while it is charging to satisfy yourself. If you have enough 2mm wire, then at the very least double up so you then have 4mm cable.

If Powerbrakes still stock the SFA kit, it is a worthwhile investment. They make a huge difference! One of the best mods I have fitted to Bulldog.

Rather than go that way, I would suggest rather keep a spare ECU, Igniter & HP Fuel pump if you feel the necessity. Little else can go wrong with the system.

You can contact LouisZ in Pretoria, he has done many such conversions. It really makes a meaningful difference in performance. Fuel consumption is slightly improved over the carburettor engine but the sheer joy in driving the fuel-injectioned engine is a pleasure to behold.

Welcome to the Prado fraternity!

PraDog is a 1998 V6 model without second tank or rear diff-lock. I suspect it does however have a limited slip rear diff as it has never yet got stuck anywhere in places where other vehicles seem to require diff-locks.

Wise decision! Retaining originality works better and the vehicle does not lose after-market value as it would with a conversion. If you need more power, consider an EFI conversion, still using genuine Toyota bits & pieces so no devaluation but the vehicle become so much more pleasurable to drive. -...

Chinese jets tend to be very thirsty and require some modification (drilling and re-tapping) in order for the standard jets to be fitted. Any Carb specialist should be able to do this. Insn't it easier to braze the jet and redrill to smaller size? ie same size as OEM jet? The carb boys do something...

You could also replace all the other electrolytics as well, they're cheap enough. Use the correct resin-cored solder - usually wound on a red spool, and not acid-core - usually on a black spool. I had something similar happen at high revs with Bulldog when we did the EFI conversion. Intermittent, only at high revs and fine at normal revs. Turned out to be a loose connector in the plug wires from the distributor. Recrimped, problem solved.
