Re: DECIDING WHETHER TO INSTALL CHIP ON A HILUX 3.0 D4D

I have heard of hiluxes burning holes in pistons in the dunes when chipped.

I wouldn't. If you want more power, have it remapped by a good tuner with EGT reading integration.

Re: 2SO in newer model Hiluxes

Then why is the internet filled with good stories of 2SO and almost no stories of bad experiences with 2SO?

Until a test is done by an independent source that has nothing to gain or to lose by either result (and is not bound by legislation) I will believe in my own logic and own findings.

Re: Sludge buildup in engine, what now?

pull the engine and sump

Leave it in bath full of diesel turning the engine by hand every few hours to work the oil pump - leave the diesel filter on.

Then let it drain for a day. Fill with fresh oil and fresh filter, run it for 200km. Drain the oil again and change the filter again.

Re: My consumption changed for the better

My diesel doesn't get more mileage with 2SO but many report that they do so it's not unheard of. I do get much better mileage on 500ppm than 50ppm. If you want to try the 2SO thing, get some from caltex or Sasol as their stock is JASO FC spec which is a clean burning ("low ash" is the tech...

Buy the best condition one. Both engines are bullet proof although the petrol is much thirstier than the diesel.

I live out of town and very seldom go into town. If it's not many, PM me your email address with the file numbers you want and I will e-mail them one by one.

Full res is not much better as the camera is only a Canon 300D. One of the first Canon DSLRs.

I have been going through a similar thing with my touareg. One thing after the other. Don't be silly like I was with my previous cars. As soon as you have it in good condition, you sell it for peanuts to some lucky guy and you go and buy a dud to start all over again. Keep it and fix it properly and...

:) Sent from my iPad 2
