Understanding diffs

Morning all, Just a query. Went playing on Saturday with the Hilux and after being able to tackle pretty much all obstacles, tried to cross some muddy tracks perpendicular to the direction in which they were running. I got the left rear wheel and front right wheel hanging with no traction.......had ...

Re: Side Shaft oil seal - rear right

This seems like a common problem. I had my rear diff serviced and since then have had this leak on the right rear brake drum. The car has been back twice and still leaking! :? I know I read somewhere about using after market oil seals not being a good idea. I will make sure mine gets an original Toy...

Re: 220V fridge off inverter

Thanks for clearing that up for me. My Waeco 50ltr operates for 2 days off a 95AH battery without the need to charge it. With the dual battery system in the bakkie now this should stretch it a little longer. But, as you say, most campsites have 220V supply but we always want the option to be able to...

220V fridge off inverter

Morning gents, I have a Waeco 12V / 220V fridge/freezer which I am very happy with. It is only a 50ltr and sometimes is a bit small for a weeks trip for a family of 4. I am looking at getting another fridge/freezer and I see the prices for the 12V/220V are more than double the cost of a 220V only fr...

Re: 1st trip with Hilux

Thanks for the replies. I am happy knowng it is normal performance for a 4Y carb motor....at least dont need to spend the extra cash on repairs. Will definetely get it to a specialist to dyno tune and set the carb properly.

Regards,

Victor

Re: Here She is!

Thanks guys for the tips! :P

I will definetely speak to Louis as option 1 would be OME! Thanks.

The tyres need to be dual use, i.e. for road and offroad. I think the mud tyres will be great to play but I'm afraid they wont suit the tar surface so much!

Will post some pics as I progress.

Cheers,

Looks very good! I have been looking at prices for an aluminium canopy and they are blimmin expensive! I'm not too clued up with aluminium work so will need to pay someone to make it for me. Will tackle the internal timber work though......pity the entire canopy cant be wood!

GOT MY HILUX TODAY!

Hello Gents,

I just took delivery of 'my new' Hilux today. It is a 1993 D/C 2.2 4x4. I want to kit this baby out as my hunting / fishing / outdoor vehicle. I was glad to come across this site to see the information available. I'm sure I will be asking PLENTY questions.

Regards,

Nitro
