Thanks Stef.
I found a decent looking GEN 3 for about the right price. I will go check it out and compare it to mine. It has the 18r in it, so I presume my 4y that I put a new head on about 1000kms ago is probably better....

Suspension compatibilty
Hi guys, I have a 1985 SFA hilux. Unfortunately the body is rusting so I need to get a new body or a whole new hilux. I kind of like the older third generation shape more than my current one. Im sure this has been answered somewhere, but I cant find it... is the suspension interchangeable between th...

Re: My 85 YN67
Thanks guys.
I have some more pics of my hilux for you.
Now with mud tyres: I will need to move the rear mud guards back a bit and get rid of the side steps (and replace with rock sliders) as the tyres rub sometimes off road.

The other two cars:
A pathfinder: And some Mazda family car that can't go offroad: At least it looks meaner now than its previous maroon.

Re: My 85 YN67
We saw vinyl wrap on eBay so my mates and I bought some to give it a go.
We did 3 cars in a weekend. Unfortunately we ran out of green so I need to get a little more to finish a couple of areas.
Here it is anyway

Re: My 85 YN67
Replaced the original worn out suspension with Old man emu. It was worth every cent. It is heaps more enjoyable to drive off road now. I mean it was still fun before, but my back would ache after a few hours of proper 4x4ing. I thought that was just a side effect of rough trails that I would have to...

Re: What is this and do I need it?
Thanks guys. So since its doing nothing now, I will probably remove the two metal pipes as well. Would the hole where the exhaust one went into be a good spot for an EGT sensor?

Re: What is this and do I need it?
I considered efi and may again in the future if I keep the 4y, but I'm enjoying the carby at the moment as I haven't had one since my first car. So, if not all 4Ys have it, do you reckon I cold just get rid of the whole lot and just blank off the holes the the two pipes went into on the motor? Or ju...

Re: What is this and do I need it?
Hahaha, really it's just the combination of spare time, spare LEDs, and the humor of opening the bonnet of a rough old truck and having a glowing engine bay haha. I bought the car to satisfy my need for tinkering, so it's getting plenty of useful and some admittedly useless modifications haha Anyway...

Re: What is this and do I need it?
The thing I am talking about is the thing that now has a blue filter in it in this pic:

Re: What is this and do I need it?
I just realised my picture is rather confusing. I have placed the 'b' on top of the pipe that goes to the carby hat. The thicker pipe doesn't actually 'T' off the normal crank case breather, it connects to a separate thing (part 'b') that is behind the thin blue hose within the red circle. In the pi...

Re: What is this and do I need it?
The thinner hose that connects to the side of the carby hat goes straight to the motor at the front. Part 'B' in my picture is some sort of valve thing that connects to the motor towards the back and also connects to the bit i want to get rid of. It used to also have a vacuum line going to the stock...

Re: What is this and do I need it?
What if it was black before it was blue? Haha
So if its just a breather, it would be fine to replace it with a little filter then?

What is this and do I need it?
Hi Guys, I am sure the answer to my question is already here somewhere, but I don't know what the parts are called so I cant search it. After installing a weber I started cleaning out the engine bay. There is this thing that I think is just a filter thing and I would like to get rid of it and replac...

Re: My 85 YN67
Cheers guys, I think the standard loadbin definitely looks nicer, but the tray has heaps more space. It's also fairly indestructible. I plan to have a kitchen in the back, and am currently trying to decide whether to buy two big boxes that run the length of the tray as tall as the cage (one of which...

Re: My 85 YN67
Yes, it will be interesting to see how long the door lasts. We reinforced the top part with checkerplate (as the gas struts looked like they were going to snap the top of the door). We decided that it would probably be fine as when the door is closed (so the majority of the time) it is supported by ...

My 85 YN67
G'day all, I'm James and I have been enjoying reading the endless Hilux knowledge on this site for the past few months. I recently created an account and figured I would show you guys some pics of my hilux. I picked up a 1985 dual cab hilux earlier this year. It is my first 4x4, which I decided to g...
