Re: Difficult gear change after standing a week
Mr H There could be various reasons for this, the oil being the first thing to change as it is the cheapest but I reckon that wont solve your problem. The next thing I would check is your clutch master and slave cylinders, over the years of use the seals tend to wear out and you lose pressure which ...

d4d, sorry about the late reply. I have the standard Nikki carb sitting on top of a Brospeed inlet manifold. The manifold, as far as I understand it, is flowed for better fuel delivery to the combustion chamber and in turn better fuel consumption as it does not spend as much time in the manifold. I ...

Hey bennie Sorry to tell you this but at the getaway show this weekend I got the same T-max for R599 form the mega bucks stand. I guess sometimes it pays to wait a little longer. Good buy though, it seems to work really well. Maybe a few flats are needed in the near future just to put it to t...

Those seats look like they are from a corolla? Why do you say they are so uncomfy?
Surely they are better than the original board seats?

Re: Hi forum i am glad to have found you
Morning Godfather I would start by having the new discs and pads checked. It is not common but every once in a while you do get discs that are warped from new. Also if you hadn't let the pads bed in properly from new you may have damaged them too and that could cause the shudder. My philosophy is to...

Re: Building own roof rack!
I hear they say that you can weld Alu with one of these AC/DC TIG Welders. Its maybe a good idea in the long run to invest in one. I read an article yesterday, written by a guy who had never welded aluminum before. He went out and bought a TIG welder and taught himself how to weld. The problem bein...

Guy's DON'T drill holes. Kevin, I can agree with this statement but at the time with my golf, when nothing else was working to remedy the problem, a hole in the cap was the last option and it worked. I never had a problem with a fuel smell or dust or water getting in through the hole. I am by no me...

Re: Cooling system
Most of the cooling systems I have worked on have had pressures of between 12 and 16psi if I remember correctly. The cap should have a rating of the same psi, allowing the pressure to be reduced if it rises above the standard pressure. WRT your radiator hoses, you should be able to squeeze them, I w...

I have had a look at that route thanks Bennie and Yes aluminium could be used, I'm just a bit worried about the lifespan of those joins when subjected to the elements all the time. Mine does the same thing. In fact most older vehicles do it. I had a golf that had a blocked breather to the extent that when it got really hot, the car would cut out. After a few minutes of cooling down it started right up again and off I went. A small hole through the petrol cap, making sure to dr...

Morning Uncle Mike and welcome I fully agree with F_D and the Baas on this one. For me the petrol was the way to go with the 2.2 being the better option in my eyes as the gain on fuel consumption was worth it for the small loss on power. Also a vaalie vehicle would be better to ensure you have many ...

A nice looking canopy, well done on the build. My question to you is how you have sealed all the corners, joins and opening mating joins, from the elements?

I had the same experience with my golf but had learnt over the ten years I drove it that some parts were just better being bought from the stealer.
