I had the same issue with my 2011 Vigo end of last year. When I opened the motor, I saw a little black spot where the contacts had a short. I bent the contacts a little bit and gone was the problem. 4 months and a good rainy season so far here in George later and all is well. Hope you come right.

WL’s are good engines. My neighbour has a courier company and his Ranger with the WL had to be rebuilt now for the first time after 700k km. But they are getting scarce second hand. And expensive. Around R25k

Yes, the 2C alternators have the vacuum pump at the back. The oil leak could come from it.

No idler arm on the Vigo’s Mud Dog. Rack ends and tie rod ends.

Thanks for checking Andy. I emailed the photos form my phone to myself to get it on my pc. And when I downloaded it, it saved it in my downloads folder as one zipped file. Strange. Maybe thats why it doesn’t want to work. Any way. Hope this post can help someone with the same problem on the fill plug.

You can’t reset the alternator charging light. When it is on in the cluster, then its not charging. Have you checked the charging with a multi meter? Should read between 13.5 and 14.5 Volts approximate.

That is a common Prado 90 problem (presume it is Prado 90), even happens with worn out OEM ball joints
Yes, it was indeed a 90 but the guy replaced ball joints 3 months prior to the incident with pirate parts.

If you do replace ball joints, please replace with OEM parts. Its going to be more expensive but pirate part cannot be trusted especially with suspensions. Saw a photo of a Prado the other day where the lower ball joint fell out while driving due to cheap parts used.

You should not assume anything. Jack it up and check the upper and lower ball joints with a tyre lever for play. There should be none. You can also check the control arm bushes. If all are good then just replace the CV boot rubbers.

If possible clean it with petrol and blow it dry with compressed air. Then check for leaks at the nuts on the fuel rail and injectors. The injector pipes sometimes crack just in top of the farrel where it seals. Secondly if all that is fine, spray some soapy water on the injector and look for bubble...

Mine does the same. However if I hold it in for about 5 seconds or so then it starts to move. Both my mirrors does it. I have removed the switch and cleaned the connections. But didn’t change anything. I just live with it as I am driving the bakkie 99% of the time so no adjusting necessary.

Replaced mine about two weeks ago at Toyota Stellenbosch. 20 min job. But the agents are battling with stock. Some agents have waiting list. Better make that appointment sooner than later.

Check all the connections on the alternator. Remove plug, clean and plug it back in. Could also be a connection on the back of the cluster.

Ek het standaard Toyota shocks in. Het ‘n 40mm pyp bull bar wat seker so in die omgewing van 30-40kg weeg.

Gaan die coils nie met die gewone lengte shocks werk nie?

‘n Nuwe stel 883 coils is R4100 by 4x4Mega.

The VNT or VGT stands for veriable nozzle turbine or veriable geometry turbine. Inside the turbo is vanes which changes its position so that you have optimal boost at all rev ranges.

The inner part that the tie rod screws into is called the rack end. The rack end srews into the steering rack shaft.

Sounds like your alternator gave in. Start it with jumpers from another battery and then check charging with a multi meter. Should be between 14 and 14.5 volts

No it won't matter. The older gearboxes like yours ussualy runs on 80W90 but I don't think you will have a problem with 75W90

I won't fill a gearbox with GL5. I believe there is a compound in that could harm the brass of the syncros over time. A EP90 or 80W90 GL4 will do the job

If you are mechanically challenged then better take it to a mechanic. Otherwise, no special tool required. Good old pipe wrench (bobbejaanspanner) and you are good to go. Thery are usually very tight and you should tighten them again very tight with some thread locker. And then mark the old tie rod ...
