I had a 3l d4d Prado and now a hilux 2.8 GD6 auto box. The issue when towing is to make sure that the box dont hunt up and down when towing else it will overheat. Then lock it a a lower gear. No doubt that alu canopies can and are strong enough. Metal fatigue is actual the issue with aluminum in the long run.

However SS canopies are not more heavier than alu canopies as it don't require a frame to provide structural strength.

Toyota only sell the 1Hz cruiser bakkie in Africa, due to non availability of low sulfur diesel, but they sell the 200 series with the same V8 engine, just different emission system. Some mines in Tanzania imported V8 pick-ups long before TSA did it, running on 3000 ppm I think they said .

Gooi 500 ppm, will do nothing to the engine, replace the engine oil when back , and carry spare diesel filters. If aluminium is not an issue for you, its good choice. I preferred the fiber glass one from Abba Safari. Little bit heavier than aluminum.

As with a RTT one have to pack up every time when you want drive but it takes only few minutes. Lots of packing space and as comfortable as a caravan.

AGM batteries is maybe best fitted for such use, but high cycle also do good, but it also depend how you charge the battery.

About 20 years ago Namibia had similar drought. At that stage thee was already back up plans to get water from the rivers in the far north. At that stage a canal/pipelines was in place to get water from Grootfontein area already. Then the following years we had above normal rain for quit a few years...

Ek het gaan kyk bietjie hoe vergelyk die 2.8 hilux in vergelyking met Cruisers tov sleep, Kw/kg en Nm/kg, ek moet my 80 series vervang een of ander tyd. Die 2.8 hilux doen amper beter as die al cruisers, V8 (net-net) en Prados ingesluit, eintlik net die 200 series wat redelik uitstaan.

Petrol have longer revs, thus go further uphill. If you limit a petrol engine's revs to 3-4000 of a diesel it would probable not go as far as a diesel, due to less torque. On flat sand, a diesel would be better as it has more torque.

That control box of Grundfos is actually a contactor for when you connect a generator to it, not really required, you can just disconnect it from the solar and plug it to the generator. The pump is now about R18000.00.

The head must be the total height difference plus pipe friction.

Grundfos SQF's can run off 220V AC also. Same wires, just not simultaneously. Many believe the Lorenz is in the same clas, but is a bit cheaper .

I have 3 Grundfos SQF solar pumps. Very little issues. Only one needed to be repaired so far in the last 7 years. .

Solar charger direct to the aux battery.

Assuming you only connect the solar when stationery, not that it matter, If the solar are permanently connected.

Also, check the earth on the trailer plug.

My trailer deactivated the ABS! which is actually a good thing. Was also a earth problem.

Also depend on the on the axle such a full floater, referring to the rear axle mainly. One must make sure that the spacer sits tight on the drum, debris etc must be removed first.

Chris, I dont have the NL box, just the NL solenoid under the hood. But because they say it will not switch if a battery is not connected I disconnected the computer part of the NL solenoid and take that wire to the wiper motor. Thats the thin wire that energize the solenoid form the computer. As sa...
