Re: Weber question from Australia
well i took the ute into work today for the rego checks passed no problem im amazed how much grunt the little 4Y puts out with the weber/exhaust mods. no engine fan has helped slightly as well..less drag. 120km/h down the freeway was effortless and it still had a lot more left in it as well. These e...

Re: Weber question from Australia
Exhaust is finally on
2" from the "branches" to a freeflow muffler and dumped just near the rear axle under the tray.
sounds unreal with the weber and a hell of a lot easier to tune!

Re: Weber question from Australia
Also the twin electric fans seem to work well. The Davies Craig adjustable temp switch goes into the top radiator hose. Ive got it set so when it gets half on the temp guage the fans kick in. They spin for about a minute then cutout. They will come back on again in about another 3 minutes or so and ...

Re: Weber question from Australia
sure does ive left a little bit there to satisfy a quick look by the roads authority but if you really look closely the few vacuum hoses left dont really do anything. The EGR blocked :silent: No messy vaccuum piping over the top of the engine. Engine fan is gone. Pretty much an engine, carb and exhau...

Re: Bash plate
a lot of people dont know the two functions of a bash plate. yes two functions 1. Protect your underbelly from rock damage etc 2. To buckle under a big impact and absorb some of the force. This is the thing a lot of people forget and end up bending chassis rails because ther is no give in the plate....

Re: how to make a surf fit 35"
to get 35" tyres under a surf you need a minimum of a 2" body lift + 2" suspension lift AND modify your front mudflaps with a special tool (hammer). you will get them under without any mods but as soon as you get any compression of your suspension your scrubbing. You will also need th...

Re: Weber question from Australia
i purchased a Davies Craig adjustable thermo switch today and in the instructions it states in bold to put the sensor in the top hose. The reason being that the guage readings are taken from coolant leaving the engine at temperature. This is how you get a reading of how hot your motor is. By placing ...

Re: Weber question from Australia
Hi, You should consider adding a red LED to the dash, so when you switch the elec fans off manually the LED flashes on the dashboard, else if you don't have a 'reminder' you might forget to switch the elec fans back on after turning it off, with potentially disasterous results, like at a water cros...

Re: Weber question from Australia
well i got home from work today and decided to get stuck into it. First on the cards was to get the air filter connection to the weber sorted. In Aust. you cannot have an open filter (eg pod filter) as its illegal..the filter must be totally incased in some sort of housing. This is why i must utilis...

Re: Toyota Hilux Surf RV6 4X4
my biggest concern would be no service history if you were to buy it you will have to do a full major service (including cambelt) to get a starting point. So make sure you factor that into the price. It is VERY rare to find a Surf with a recorded service history from Japan. These vehicles are kept a...

Re: To all offroaders out there please share your knowledge
On my very first 4WD outing i got stuck. Got stuck in mud,got stuck trying to get up rock ledges..just generally couldnt go where the big boys went. But it taught me a lot. Tyres make a HUGE difference to any 4WD Tyre pressures make a HUGHER difference in traction (lower tyre pressures bigger footpr...

in Australia diesel engines are just as common as petrol. looking around this site i notice there is more petrol motors over your way..or so it seems.
