Re: Engine differences 2.7 pre-facelift & Facelift models
Another reason why the pre face lift is lighter on fuel> When changes were made on the inlet system the ECU was mapped to run hotter. The head failure rate was higher than what TMC specified and it was noted that this was due to head temperature. In order to cool the head flow rate was changed and f...

Re: BIO DIESEL
Using bio diesel is great as long as you dont have electronic injectors. I run 2 of my work vehicles on a 75% blend, which gives better fuel consumption with very little noticable loss in power. One is a nissan 2.7TD the other a kia 2700. My D4D runs on good old pump diesel. Cost saving on Bio is 80...

Re: Long range tank on 2010 legend 40 3.0 D4D
As the km / tank does not know that fuel is being feed from a second tank & due to the fact that the second tank is a gravity feed the indicator will show from 670km down. However what is of interest is that when you are down to half a tank (s), due to the fact that this is mapped via the ECU th...

Re: Towball wiring
Wiring loome to tail lights is supplied by all approved Toyota approved towbar manufacturers.
You can contact Bosal, Maxi, BTM or any other supplier & order a loome. I must admit that the earth is poor so I run a second cable to the chassis.

Re: Dot 3 and Dot 4 Brake Fluid?
Dot 3 & 4 are used on vehicels with boosters. Dot 5 is used on race cars. You should completely flush the brake system with new brake fluid every 2 years. This is due to water contamination. This is aslo the same reason why when you open a bottle of brake fluid it should be used ASAP. The water ...

Re: 3.0 D4D 120 000 kms service
Filter replacement ±300 bucks for UDF & 200 for donaldson. However the UDF on special is 3g's where as donaldson is half that. Also replacement filters for donaldson are available country wide, which is a big plus point as is the extra water trap.

Re: 3.0 D4D 120 000 kms service
Quick way to check injectors. After your oil change ±2000k's pull the dip stick out & wipe the oil between your fingers. If you can wipe this oil off your fingers with ease ie your fingers arn't still dirty the injectors & ok. If there is any contamination its time to have them checked over....

Re: A/T Tyre test
Manufacturers have to make sure that the supplier can in fact supply tyres needed to build, so if you need 1000 plus tyres a day of a specific kind the supplier has to deliver on this. If you want something else then pay for it.

Re: 15 or 16" tyres
Hi Theunis The diameter increase from a 205 to a 265 is 43mm which is 5.5%. A 245/70 would give 2%. As the SRX has no overfenders, the clearance should be greater than that on a R/B raider. It is therefore highly likely that the off set is the cause of your problem. Ask the tyre dealer what the diff...

Re: 15 or 16" tyres
Hi Theunis The photos are of my 2.7, My 2006 vehicle completed 90 000 on Grabbers & I then went for the Michelin CT's which have completed 40 000k's to date. Conducted fuel consumption & performance tests on both the std 15" & the 16" & found little difference in the result...

Thanks FD
Have to agree with the visual. Running currently with 16" Michelin Cross Terrain. Was never a fan of the old 15" style but have to look deeper than what one likes from time to time
Cheers

Re: 15 or 16" tyres
The price variance is quite small, but I've noticed that there has become a larger selection of 16's of late, probably due to the fact that more & more manufacture's are using 16 & 17" as standard fitment. The 30x9.5 gives that slightly bigger side wall & is close to the size of the...

15 or 16" tyres
Hilux 3.0 D4D needs new tyres. I have the option of going 30x9.5R 15's or 265/70R 16's. Both sets of rims are available & tyre choice is Duelers D694. Diameter difference between to 2 is less than 2% so this is not an issue. The vehicle has the 15" brake caliper so its a question of prefere...
