Long overdue update.
In the end I got around 105 000 km from the STTs without any problems whatsoever.
The only downside to these tires was that most of the tire shops struggled to balance them correctly but Johan from 1st alignment centre managed it.

Kirisun PT3300 radio review
Thanks to Family_Bulldog for lending us the Kirisun PT 3300 radios for our trip to Namibia. This was my first time using a radio so I can not compare it to others. Our overall impression was that it served it's purpose very well. It is very handy when driving in a convoy, looking for camping spots a...

Leon,
Do you still have the writeup and photos of the conversion.
I remember that you posted it on another site but it would be great to have it in this site's archives.
(It is one of the niceste looking SFAs I have ever seen)

From what I have heard the engines are only copies of the Toyota engine and is not the real deal.

Re: Open Road vs Town Drivng Diesel Consumption
It might be driving style related, but I get much better diesel consumption in town than on the open road.
And there is a big difference in consumption between 110km/h and 130km/h. I agree with iHilux that engine revolutions make the difference.

Re: ToyX4, my new, old Hilux
The 205s have a much smoother ride and is very quiet. Performance wise there is a slight difference, but is worth it in terms of ground clearance. Hein, from Burnco in Brackenfell makes sump guards. I think he incroporates it into the replacement bull bar but he is always willing to help out. And hi...

Re: ToyX4, my new, old Hilux
Yes, we have the same bakkie. I am still very happy with mine. The reason I am asking about the suspension is that when you put a heavy bull bar on, the front might sag. Consumption: Town driving : 12 km/l Open road : 10 / 11 km/l 5000km trip with load : 9 km/l average The consumption is obviously d...

Baie mooi!
Do you know if the previous owner did anything with the front suspension before fitting the RV bullbar?

Re: My new Cooper STT's
Nice! What size? I run my 31"s on 2 bar on road. Depending on the circumstances, I drop the pressure to 1 bar for the easy stuff. For hectic 4x4, 0.8 front and 0.6 back - unladen. With regards to rotation, there are many schools of thought and everyone has their own opinion. I will most probabl...

Re: What mileage do you get out of Cooper STT tires ?
If I can hazard a guess,
probably between 70 and 100k km depending on the circumstances.
Mine are close to 60k and still looks good for another 20k or more.

The new Hilux has auto locking hubs.
I have not had any problems so far, but it is still quite new.
