Re: Fuel Gauge
Thanks Allan, What I am thinking of is to revert to the original fuel tank installation. This is because the other tank does not have sufficient height differential to allow a quick enough drain into the main tank. What happens is the fuel filler is connected to the extra tank. Then the extra tank f...

Fuel Gauge
Hi Gents, I have problem with my fuel gauge. I have an '87 Hilux Double cab. The gauge seems to work and then not. Then the level wanders from 3/4 to empty and back and then sits anywhere. I have been told that the circuit behind the cluster is the problem and not the sender. I have replaced the sen...

Re: New EFI engine conversion form V6
Ja Ja, thanks guys. at the coast I have seen a few heads come off and the gaskets have crumbled due to corrosion. So with a cast iron block and all that goes on in the motor I was enquiring if a stronger mix was used. Thanks for the info. I ma going to fill up with a 50/50 mix using non municipal wa...

Re: New EFI engine conversion form V6
Thanks for the input. I think I will drive for a bit to see how the Lux pulls and then look to see what the next move is. I must say the benefit of installing a complete factory built afi unit has been interesting after reading about other conversions. My engine came complete with all the sensors bu...

New EFI engine conversion form V6
Greetings gents. I have an '86 Lux D/C. When I bought it , it had a V6. It battled to tow my 15,6 ski boat so I took the vehicle to my mechanic who drove it for about one km and told me the motor was worn out. Having owned a Lux 15 years ago I remembered how good the vehicle was off road in low rang...

Re: Common problems with SFA HiLux?
Oh ja I forgot to add that the engine is complete with all the components, tpi etc... so I am connecting everything up this week end. The fuel tank is back in after the acid wash and I will let the forum know if it runs and whether it runs well enough to tell people about. I am new to all of this bu...

Re: Common problems with SFA HiLux?
Hi gents, I noticed that "Dads Toy BFI" has installed a new Korean 4Y EFI. I have just done the same after buying an old 86 DC 4X4 SLA. It had a Ford V6 which was done so I have installed the new engine. It came form Manderine Spares in Pta with the computer box and a complete vehicle harn...

Viscous Fan
Hi gents, I am rebuilding my lux and have installed a new 4Y engine. (Chucked out the old V6 at last!!) The mechanic helping me says I must not install a viscus fan but must install a fixed fan so that the engine never overheats. What effect wil a fixed fan have on power, consumption and noise. I ha...
