Re: Tiek tiek geluid op my 4y

Stem saam met Andy. Dit vat so 'n rukkie vir die olie druk om behoorlik op te bou in die "hydraulic lifters". Onthou wat die manne altyd gesê het van tappets toe mens hulle nog met die hand gestel het. " A noisy tappet is a happy tappet".

Re: Gabriel HDP Shocks

I did lot of research and talked to several fitters and the general consensus was that they are very hard riding. One fitter said he will fit them for me but I must not come and ask him to remove them after two weeks. And he was not trying to promote another brand. He suggested I simply fit the Gabr...

Re: Hilux clutch fail

You don't get a kit for the master cylinder on the 3lt D4D from Toyota. Only for the slave cylinder. I am still trying to see if I can source the right seals for the master cylinder on these bakkies it will be a cheap and easy rebuild.

Re: electrical problem on my sfa 1997 2,8d 4x4

I am speculating here but perhaps it can help direct your thinking. The indicator lights you mention (except for the charge light) are managed from the ECU. If all the lights stay on I would first check the connector that came loose. Why did it come loose and are all the contacts on it making contac...

Re: 2008 Toyota Hilux D4D 4x4, +/- 160 000km - Diff Lock Pro

I can confirm what Mud Dog says. Some time ago I thought that my diff lock also wasn't engaging anymore. I was in 4L but travelling in a straight line. It did not engage even after travelling several 100 meters in a straight line. (I was just checking to see if it works). Then I realised the two sid...

Which Vehicle? I have a 2006 DC 3lt D4D 4x4 and my Brother a 2007 4x2 and they have the same brakes front and back. Some of the newer models (particularly the Fortuner I think) has larger sized front disk pads although they look the same as the older model.

Re: How to drain all the water from 2005 KZ-TE

On the radiator there should be a drain cock/plug and there should also be one on the engine block. On the D4D the engine block of which is based on the KZTE it is on the right hand side of the engine standing behind the vehicle.

I thought I would share an interesting experience for future reference if someone comes across a similar situation. My sister-in-law has a 3lt D4D 4X2. It has done 200 000 ks now. I was surprised to feel how well the auto box is mated to the diesel engine. It pulls well, shifts smoothly, is very ...

If any of those components fail it is going to be a very expensive exercise to fix that 16 valve cylinder head. Replace the idler too. Re: Hilux 3.0 d4d mapping question?

No it is to disable the EGR Valve so that no exhaust gases are recirculated. This is based on the premise that the EGR, especially the old generation types, which were not controlled by the ECU reduced performance of the engine. With the new EGR's it is not that simple. You will be getting false rea...

Re: Hilux 3.0 d4d mapping question?

Not a dumb question Jager. It is the Exgaust Gas Recirculation Valve which returns some of the exhaust gasses to the cylinders. The purpose is to reduce the amount of excess oxygen to reduce NOx emissions. Also exhaust gas has a higher specific heat than air and so serves to lower peak combustion te...
