I have tried many, many bush shower ideas and eventually settled on something simple and inexpensive:

20l Water Jerry Can (Blue), mix in 2l of boiling water, drop 12v camp shower obtained from Macro in it, and even swambo with long hair is happy as a pig in.... Hot water shower....

I agree with Bennie,

I've had similar problems before. Once it ended up being the universal joint on the prop shaft, the second time it was actually the prop shaft itself.

Unless they did not balance the wheels when he got he new tyres....

Tim,
Bennie did the conversion for me. My truck has a permanent roof rack and Ironman suspension (Lifted about 5cm).

Ihave only been driving it around town since the conversion and get 13.2l/100km instead of the 19.4 I used to get.....

I walked through Outdoor warehouse today and saw that they sell a National Luna duel battery kit.

It consists of a Solenoid, a monitor system with alarm, all the cables and a manual. All for R740... Thought that was quite cheap.

I got the truck with the 38 weber, so can't really compare. What I do know is that it's crap and should be thrown away! It can't take an electronic idle jet, so when it's hot, you have to stall the engine to make it stop. My fuel consumption on average is about 5.3km/l which is unacceptable with new...

I have a 38 weber and have no starvation problems...

I do however have pre-ignition and heavy fuel consumption. I was advised on the 36/32 Weber, but now I'm also interested to find out more about the Golf carb.

So forgive my ignorance, but is this as simple as: Take old carb off, Bolt on adaptor plate, Put new carb on, Attach fuel and vacuum pipes, Have better fuel consumption? I got quoted R2 500 to take off my Weber 38 and replace it with a 32/36... I'd be more than happy to spend that money on something...

A friend of mine's hilux's 2.2 has blown a head gasket for the second time now. He has lost faith in that engine and is investigating putting a new one in.

Anyone in Pretoria that can recommend somewhere to go to have this done? He just wants another 2.2 4Y... He got a quote for R7 500 fitted.

One other thing:
Apparently you should not change the springs without changing the shocks. The shocks build up a memory, and you lift them by changing the springs, they might break... This was what I was told anyway...

Back to the carb problem: I had the same scenario once. I saw a carb specialist, who also has a Lux. He recommended a Weber 32/36 which apparently has a rubber float, which in some way can solve this problem. This was on a 4Y though. To replace my current 38 weber with that would cost about R2 500.....

I paid R47k for 89 model 3 years ago and I've spent R52k on it...

I'd start your price on R45k ish and then find out how much it would cost you to put the extras on....

I think R80 to R85 would be reasonable.

I don't like arguments, so I went with 60L Ebgel Combi. On the one side I can freeze the meat and make ice, on the other side the vegies and beer are kept cold without freezing....

There is something about having ice in your whiskey even if you have not seen a shop for a week! :D :D :D

I have a 38 Weber on my 2.2. 4y and hate it. It's heavy on fuel, has huge pre-ignition problems and stalls on steep inclines. I went to 3 Carb places in Pretoria to ask advice and all three gave me the same solution: Change the 38 to either 36DCd? or 32/36 which is apparently the cheaper but better ...
