You can find Frontrunner roof racks 2nd hand on the likes of Facebook Marketplace/Gumtree etc for really good prices, last year I picked up a rack, with 3 gas bottle brackets, double Jerry can bracket and budget awning for R4000

Conqueror really put a trailer together well, and the lekker thing is you can mod it as you go to what suits your needs, so you can buy a basic one now and add the bits and bobs you like/need later.

They also hold value pretty well

I'm very happy with my Hella spots, I bought the 4" and with hindsight I should have gotten the 5", but they throw a decent beam, not too expensive and seem to withstand stone chips

I would keep driving it and change oil and GUD or OEM oil filter every 2000 kms, make sure you do some nice highway driving as often as possible to get everything lekker hot and hopefully losen up that gunk. I have the service schedule for a 3.0 D4D 4x4 (m) and it does not have any reference to the front diff, possibly change it along with the gear box oil to be safe

I used the inline fuse from a Jurgens Xplorer caravan, its re-settable :)

it looks like a fuse from a car sound install, but with a switch on the top

Everyone I know that ever had a nitrous kit (myself included), sooner or later, broke the motor, even installed by a reputable tuner with a Unichip controlling it all.

IMHO its really not worth the gamble

Bear in mind that a properly installed nitrous kit also adds extra fuel to keep the mixture correct, if you just add extra air you will run lean and break the motor even sooner.

The quickest way to break a motor is to use Nitrous Oxide, the sudden extra strain on all the internal moving parts is too much and you usually break a piston or bearing. I would not recommend it, as the nitrous is not to be used when the motor is already under a big load, like over taking on an uph...

I would go for it, the K&N is my brand of choice, had many over the years and been very happy

If you are going in to dusty conditions just slap in the stock filter :)

the tube steps are still not strong enough to be sliders, the metal used is very thin and they mount to the std brackets under the car, which are not very thick at all.

I would say save your cash and get ONCA sliders for about R5500 :D

And if it has those General Grabber tyres get a new set of something else. My brother has the first release Tuna and changed only the tyres and has had no issues. I would go for it if you are happy with the deal! Also look at those, I think, HDP Gabriel 4x4 shocks, they are getting many good reviews...

They catered lekker German food, we got to try all the beers & ciders and was actually very informative too!

The 4x4 Fortuners are permanent 4WD, even the 2nd gear lever only shows 4H for normal driving

Surely Toyota would have thought that driving in 2H (RWD) would return better fuel consumption? (Like the Hilux can)

I still believe that the best way to look after your turbo is to idle! Why don't the manufacturers add these devices on the production line? Rather get a turbo timer if you HAVE to! I have a mate with a KZ-TE with 333 000kms on the clock (saw it this past weekend) he idles his turbo down every time ...

Has anyone upgraded the 2.5 D4D SRX with an intercooler?

Does the 3.0D4D cooler set up fit? i.e. can one just go buy the cooler, pipes, brackets etc off the 3.0 and bolt it on to the 2.5?
And get a bonnet scoop fitted of course

I'm a little confused here.

I keep my eye out for a 1997/8/LTD SFA D/C 4x4 Lux

Looking through the classifieds you can often find a 2.7 or KZ-TE lux for cheaper than a SFA...

Are people just asking crazy prices? As the SFA will generally have twice the kms of the newer Lux's

1984 Toyota Corolla 1.6GL - My father bought it, I had it for nearly a year, it gave me so many problems I sold it...

To buy a 1987 Lux, 2.2 4x4 S/C, white with the std grey 4x4 stripe kit, Pro-White rims with (cant remember the size now) big tyres - should kept that Lux... damn you hindsight!

The Navara does not come with a cab slider, it has a rear window demister instead, according to Nissan the percentage of double cab owners that actually use the cab slider is very small, but I know on my 1/2 tonner I use it often. I only use Castrol and have been since I was 18 and never "lost" an engine or experienced sludge in the sump! I use GTX in an old (1999) 1.8i Polo, with now 168 000kms on it, we bought (probably 3rd hand) that smokes a little, so I found the GTX burns off slower than Edge Sport My wifes 20...

You can buy the genuine Toyota Sump Silicone that works wonders, and dries faster than std silicone
