Re: mount rooftop tent and water tank mod

Hi Andy. Thanks for your feedback. I am experimenting with a few different locations at the moment, this tank was salvaged from an off road caravan and the dimensions do not allow much in terms of mounting options. I have had it on my roofrack for a while and although heavy have not had any problems...

Hi

It is never an easy decision. If you do decide to strip I would be interested in the leaf springs front and rear and possibly the shocks. Is it all standard equipment?

Good luck with making that difficult choice.

The tensioner on the timing chain broke off and damadged the casing, so that was replaced. Also did pistons, rings, valves....... The total for the recon with a heavy duty clutch was R5,200.00 I think that was very reasonable?? So far I am very happy, also got a six month gaurantee on the recon and ...

Re: Advice needed on motor replacement

There are always fewer hassles with a recon of your existing motor compared to fitting a different motor. For one, the exhaust and inlet manifolds on the 4Y are both on the passenger side, but not so with the 22R motor, although that is a minor to sort out. The Chinese motor starter motor does not ...

Re: Advice needed on motor replacement

Both the 4y and the 22R are excellent motors ... not fast, but reliable with lots of low end grunt. Why not re-con the existing motor? ... You could replace with a Chinese built 4Y which is a little less spunky than the 22R on the open road, but not too much different in the rough, although the 22R...
