Re: Bennie involved in accident

Re: Standard Lexus ECU 1UZ VVT-I Conversions

Redhummer - it sounds like I will have to fork out around R10 000 for ECU and airflow meter, and then I still dont have a wiring harness. That's why the aftermarket ECU's are thriving as well, let alone the advantages available to people like me and benHur who wants to tinker under the bonnet when w...

Re: Standard Lexus ECU 1UZ VVT-I Conversions

Gee wiz guys - you are a bit on the emotional side here - hope I dont get caught in the middle of anything. I am asking again (RedHummer):\ 1. How easy / difficult and costly is it to source an OEM computer box - my brother might want to run the 4.3 VVTI if standard EMU is feasible 2. What about wir...

Re: Standard Lexus ECU 1UZ VVT-I Conversions

Like you guys are saying - each to his own. I would like to say that I agree with Benhur - there is no substitute for being able to tweak your own management - from cold start behaviour and idle speed through to timing and fuel maps. Most of us are not so lucky to get an engine with full wiring inta...

Re: Removing a blade from OME front suspension

Re: HELP !! 4y 7m

Sorry guys, but I have to vote for 7M, if you do it yourself, it can be very cost effective and reliable - did mine, after selling 4Y and recovering R4500, for about R12 000 - I still have the Excel file to substantiate the cost summary (from 2005). The 7M is smooth, powerful, and better on fuel tha...

On the SFA - it is far better to replace the balls with tie rod ends - and have a high tensile steel rod cut with threads in opposing directions for adjustment purposes. Mine runs on Isuzu KB350 joints

Re: 3RZ-FE vs Others (split from converting 3.0td to 2.7i)

My few cents worth on the 7mge : I have to come up for it - mine has now done about 25 000 km in the Hilux, I took a conservative stance on the cooling right from the start - I fitted a fixed Nissan E20 fan that has a shallow pitch - so it does not draw too much power, bit it maintains constant airf...

Re: 7MGE Questions

That is exactly why we converted - much more power - same juice. Mine still runs with head gasket that I bought it with - and I think the secret is proper (= over!!) design of cooling system. Dont think you will get away with tiny electric fan - it shoud be big, or use fan belt driven fan, and monit...

Re: Petrol verbruik 2.4 Hi lux 22R

My opinie....

Mine gives me the goosbumps on the forearms on a hot summersday with wound down windows at 4000 to 5000 rpm - sounds sooo beautiful! The cruiser 4.5 petrol is totally different - you feel the heaaavy crank and low revving torquey nature much more tahn with the 7mge The 7m will scream - and the cruis...

Re: Steering Arm Klopping Driver's Side Gabriel Safari Shocker

Hi Guys I did the conversion some years ago, we used Isuzu KB tie-rod ends and removed the ball-joints, which have warn away badly because of dirt getting past those silly rubbers (this is in my opinion one of the only weak-points in the SFA Hilux). We used hardened steel for the rod, and threaded i...

Hiluxman's Hilux DC 4x4

Hi Guys As promised, here's more details about my Hilux: It used to be the recovery vehicle on the McCarthy 4x4 club - so it really worked hard, they did not save it, and yet, after refurbishing the drivetrain from front to rear (except front diff), it is in a good condition. Losts of battle scars u...

Re: 4Y EFI Conversion - Chapter 2

For those still wondering about possible power gains to go the EFI route on the 4Y - dont expect more than 10% increases in kw and torque, BUT, engine much more responsive, and surprisingly smoother. I had the ignition and fuel control with Mr Turbo EFI on mine before also going the 7M route - the 7...

Hierdie for...

Re: Camil Suspension BlumTRD
