Re: Leopard driven over by Tour Guide Vehicle and Hyundai Van

Thomas its a leopard not a cheetah. It's easy to speculate without knowing the facts, yes I'm sure it could have been handled differently by those present however we must remember that Over a million people visit KNP yearly and encounters with dangerous animals are bound to happen to normal people v...

Re: Cant get the balance right?

Ok so here is the latest update. Took vehicle to Bridgestone head office in isando. They inspected tyres, 3 out of 4 were out of round and they replaced all 4. Must say they gave me excellent service with no quibble! I'm impressed! Can't say the same for Supaquick, they never came back to me with my...

Re: Cant get the balance right?

Hi Darrl
Please send me your guys details. You have a valid point my tyres are 6 months old and the vibration is a new issue, The prob I have now is that the vibration is not 100% gone  so now I need to start looking at other things and checking the wheel balancing etc again.

Re: Cant get the balance right?

OK so here's the update. Took vehicle to SAJCO in Randburg this morning. Prop shaft is poked apparently. Center bearing and both universals are shot. :o: so its been an expensive morning prior to the long weekend away in KNP. At least I know the issue now. Vehicle is on 277000km so it was probably d...

Cant get the balance right?

been to two different supaquicks for wheel balancing (3 times in all) both shops tell me the balancing is out then they correct it, but low and behold when I hit the highway the shudder is still there. its only at about 100-110kph then goes away, its not a classic steering vibration, the whole vehic...

Let her go with in the LR. You just follow as a backup vehicle in your Hilux and let her experience first hand as to why it was a bad idea to go with them in the first place. Then you can reap the rewards and gloat at the same time   Now that's an idea Kevin ! Do you think I shoul...

Women are definitely from Venus

I need to share something with some like minded folk who could possibly sympathise with me. So I've been spending a lot of time on the Lux getting her ready for short and long bush trips. The list is endless as you all know, RTT, Alu canopy, dual Battery, etc etc etc. The Girlfriend is very keen on ...

Re: What Rivnuts to use for roofrack rails?

A Question- Just had roof rails fitted to my DC Hilux so I can fit a roof rack later. They used Riv Nuts to secure the rails. Now I've been told that riv nuts are not strong enough for a loaded roof rack? apparently the weak point is that they don't prevent vertical movement in the long run just late...

Re: New base for RTT- help and advice please

Hi Hans my Afr is baaie swak so excuse me. in my opinion a RTT on roof of vehicle will definitely add extra drag therefore higher fuel consumption. It depends on your needs . But pulling a traileror caravan will burn more fuel than having a RTT on roof of vehicle. im planning on mounting the tent on...

I find them! but in pretty bad shape, someone stripped the ladder and alu side plates (prob for scrap). So now im gonna rather fix th...

New base for RTT- help and advice please

Hi Guys, I was given a damaged RTT some time ago, I removed the tent to have the canvas fixed but in the process of moving somehow the base and support poles have disappeared. So now I need to make a whole new base from plywood and have some alu poles made up to support the tent when it's erected. W...
