Towing in Bots.

Been to Bots many times but never towed a trailer there before. Apart from the original reg cert, what other requirements are there? Moz likes the yellow triangle, are the any such markings required in Bots?

My Son recently purchased a 2010 Fortuner 3.0 D-4D 4x4 with 120 000km on the clock. Drove like a new car. We then did a lubrication service. All oils to spec including volumes. I was just chatting to a buddy of mine in Aus who happens to be a keen hunter. The topic of hunting in Botswana came up and I had to admit that I don't know if the hunting ban is still in place.If so I feel for the hunting concession operators.

Hey Stephan, That looks like a great trip. Proud of your (both of you) Vasbyt after your setback earlier. Water in the delta should be high so should be interesting. Just a pity the Savuti channel has dried up. Used to be the best game viewing ever. Enjoy the trip and be safe.

Hi Johno,

I've looked at the problem a bit and it seems that any recovery point will be behind the Tupper bumper. Don't know how one gets past that ugly piece of plastic without cutting it away. Maybe not a bad idea.

Worn gaslift mounts.

The mounting brackets on my Fortuner's rear door gas lifts appear to be badly worn. I haven't disassembled one yet but it appears that the gaslift is riveted to the bracket. Anyone had this problem? The vehicle has only done 118000km. Admittedly a lot of it on corrugated roads in Nam and Bots.

Wimpie. I would have thought that any vehicle with increased spring tension would behave like that. If one increases the spring tension buy adding extra leafs or air helpers then the damping of the shocks should be increased. Problem then is driving without a load when the damping will be to severe,...

Book at least one night at Third Bridge or Xakanaka in Moremi. Savuti is an absolute must. 2 nights minimum. Campsite #1 if possible. Rushing through there is a sin. It's also a very long haul from Kwaai to Kasane. No point in going that route if you're not going to stop over in Moremi and Savuti. L...

You should have no problems in August. Correct tyre pressures on cars and trailers should do it. The river crossing before Kwaai can vary.
