Re: Difflock light

Do what Drikus said, had same problem on my D4D. Difflock light would keep flashing and diff would not lock. Turned out to be a loose wire on the diff. Light now stays on constantly and the differential is locking

Re: Rand Airport Air Show

@Mud Dog: That Rolls Royce Merlin must be the most beautifull music man has ever made! Maybe someone should think of starting a Merlin conversion into a Lux  You may need to start by moving the cab where the load bin used to be to make room though :boss: with a fuel tank in tow!

Re: 4Y refurb or fong kong replacement???

@Geoff: Thanks I will keep that in mind! @Louis: The only other problem is I'm getting white smoke from the exhaust upon startup and lasts about 15-20 minutes after, I've been thinking that this could just be condensation in the pipe maybe but it is also using coolant, which makes me think head gask...

Re: 4Y refurb or fong kong replacement???

Thanks Piet, I think I will end up going the fong kong route and just use all my original accessories. I got a price of R10 900 from Mikes Place which seems very reasonable. I'm not sure if it is chinese or korean but I assume they all chinese nowadays. Going to start stripping next month and do a r...

4Y refurb or fong kong replacement???

Hi Guys My 4Y has 270 000km on it now and I'm unsure on whether I should replace it with a fong kong or have it refurbished. I don't have the knowledge to do a refurbishment myself which is why I was considering a midas 4Y and then using my Toyota accessories. It worries me that if I have it refurbi...

Re: re-spray

Thanks Jano, I will go past them sometime and get a quote and see what the damage is!

Eric, as for the color blending in with the road I never thought of that, I must say I also love the Land Cruiser beige, I see you had yours re-sprayed in this color? Are you happy with it?

re-spray

Hi Guys, I'm set on re-spraying my bakkie gun metal gray, and the rims and alu canopy black, (fell inlove with the scheme on the ford pickup from the Discovery tv series Red Jacket) The question is just where in the Western Cape area would I be able to have this done professionally and at a reasonab...

Re: Hilux Aftermarket Powersteering

Morning Neels, I have an 88' 2.2 with after market power steering, was already fitted when I purchased the vehicle. I see it is a "Toyoda" part, note the "D", but it hasn't let me down once. I'm sure one of the guys on the forum will be able to help you out on costs and where to ...

Re: Engine Jerking

So I pulled the air cleaner off the carb yesterday evening and swapped the no.1 and no.4 leads around to try clear the carb, but this morning I seemed to still have the same problem. Andy, the reason she idles for so long at the moment is that she is standing outside for now and it is li...

Re: Engine Jerking

Thanks a lot for the help guys! I did replace the spark plugs a month ago, perhaps the guy at Autozone gave me the wrong plugs, BP5ES, I was told I should be using BPR5E1X (NGK). The plug leads are also new (Autozone). But I will head over there today and get new plugs and see if their is a differen...

Re: Engine Jerking

Thanks Cassie!

I will service the carb this weekend and see if it helps, could very well be the problem.
Although I've never serviced my Hilux carb myself I have on a few bikes, should be a good learning experience!

Engine Jerking

Hi Guys, With all these cold mornings in Cape Town recently I've been having surging/jerking problems with my 2.2 Lux. She starts almost instantly every morning and usually idles for about 20 minutes before I head off for work, but as soon as I start driving she jerks like crazy when I go over about...
