Sodwana Bay to Kosi Mouth.
Hi Folks, Please could someone assist with some information on a trip. I am planning a trip to Hluhluwe game reserve at the end of February for a few days. We will then move on to Kosi Bay for a few days. We absolutely love the mouth and will probably stay at Utshwayelo Lodge. The info I am looking ...

I do the Ermelo, Piet Retief trip regularly from Pretoria/JHB. At the moment my advice is go Via Middleburg, Hendrina, Eremelo, Piet Retief to Pongola. There is a short section of roadworks just outside Ermelo on the Piet Retief road. The rest is good The road via Amsterdam is good but adds a few km...

Re: Kosi Bay and Santa Maria trip in May
Hi Folks, Sorry I have not done a report yet. I have walked back into a pile of work. This is why I hate going away. As it is we had to cut out the Santa Maria portion of the trip. I needed to stay in telephone contact. (long story behind this) Just briefly, we ended up doing the following. The trip...

Re: Seat Covers
I tend to agree with Mark on this one. I fit seat covers and extra floor mats on every vehicle I buy. I so enhances the resale value after a few years. I have Escape covers on my Hilux. Came with them fitted. Second hand. I am not so sure that they are waterproof. They do however appear a bit thicke...

Re: Kosi Bay and Santa Maria trip in May
Hi Tjaart, You have perhaps just answered my next set of questions about the ferry at Catembe. Thanks for this. We did consider going from Santa Maria into Swaziland at one stage, but decided to keep this for another trip. I think we will probably use the route via Catembe and Maputo. I will probabl...

I have used these people , and have been pretty happy. http://www.jackalberrycanvas.co.za/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They are in the Honeydew area. I fitted them to my first Mercedes Vito, and moved them to my second Vito. I have only replaced the seat cover on the dri...

Re: Kosi Bay and Santa Maria trip in May
Hi Folks, Thanks for the info so far. It see it seems my main problem is the trip to Komati from Santa Maria. It appears from what Mark has to say that it would be better to go up to Catembe and then catch the ferry. Fortunately I will probably be able to get help with this from the people at Santa ...

Kosi Bay and Santa Maria trip in May
Hi Folks, My wife and I are planning a trip in May. We will be staying in self cater chalets for most of the trip. Decided to splash out and leave the tent behind. I have a 2000 Hilux 2.7, Old Man EMU suspension, 31x10.5x15 AT tyres. Long rang tank (60L), Winch. The vehicle is in pretty decent condi...

Re: Saving Electricity - Sparkies please help
Hi all, Here are some answers for you. 1. ElectricBuddy. This is a con. Stay away. Paying lots of money for no benifit. 2. Ripple Control. As said before this is a function whereby the council controls your Geyser via a signal sent via your power cables. The older systems used a special ripple gener...

Re: Which is the best battery to use in your 4x4?
Hi Mark,
What model did you buy (Silver or Blue? And code number), and where did you get it from. (Dealer)
Grant who collected my tyres may be needing a decent battery for his cruiser.

Trevor

Re: Advice on buying a 2.7 DC 4x4
Hi Folks, Sorry about the long delay with a follow up. As said in my last post I did buy the 2.7. The main problem was 2 burnt valves. Repaired this and had a full service (brake pads and all). Cost me a total of just over R5K. Now I am really happy. Now going like a Hilux. We then decided to do a t...

Re: Advice on buying a 2.7 DC 4x4
Hi Folks, Thanks for all the input. I have taken the plunge, against what was probably some good advice, and bought the truck. Reduced price of R110000. I hope that the chance I have taken on there being only a minor problem with the engine pays off. I have had other advice that says it will. Time wi...

Now why could I not do this. Maybe a bit intellectually lacking.
Anyone out there seen this Hilux.
Please comment.

Re: Advice on buying a 2.7 DC 4x4
Hi Folks, Thanks for the advice so far. I have had a chat to the guy who does my repairs etc. Landcruiser man in Centurion. He seems to think there can't be too much wrong with the 2.7 I am looking at. Perhaps just a vacuum pipe. At worst valves and the head. He also tells me that he cost to repair ...

Advice on buying a 2.7 DC 4x4
Hi folks, I am looking to buy a 2.7 DC 4x4 second hand. Looking for an early model for under R130000. I am presently looking at one in Meyerton advertised on Gumtree. I have looked and driven it. It all appears to be in good condition, except. It idles very rough, and seems to be down on power a bit...

I have hardly even had a chance to use it yet. Spent most of my time under the bonnet or chassis to date. I am presently a member of the L...
