drove the vx200 thursday and all i can say is wow , it pulls like a train , there wont be many diesels that size that will stay with it.

hi stef , totally agree with jaco , i dropped the race chip in the 200vx cruiser 4.5 v8 twin turbo diesel and it pulls like a train , on speed cruise it does not drop back to 4th gear as it did previously , just goes back to 5th and almost instant back to 6th on uphills , so plenty more oomph and th...

i have a 5 cyl version of the 1hz 4.2l cruiser motor called the 1pz , just strap a turbo to it and it will run well and short enough to fit the hilux , even has the bellhousing on to take the gearbox

totally agree louis , colin nice one looks very neat , just curious to what you did with the transfer and how far back is it compared to standard if you dont mind. doing a gelandewagen at the moment but very neat layout as the transfer is completely seperate so we are going with the vvt and 5 speed ...

the lift is not that much , about 2k with material and labour , the only thing is if an aftermarket bumper is fitted that must be worked in as you will have to lift that as well and rear bumper. another couple of grand. as for the 4y and box , i am sure there will be takers out there. but the motor ...

the only problem with the sfa box it cannot handle the lexus , i have had too many come through the shop for replacing with the auto. the adaptor works well and nobody so far has managed to break one of mine and it is ally and i can tell you the auto is so much of a pleasure to drive. and revs lower...

hi richard , as ive said the 7m was not a bad motor , but there was a lot of issues with the head cooling etc , granted the motors are peanuts to buy 3.5k i think , but the 1uz still works out tops in the lux but with the auto box

i agree allan ,but the cruiser guys with the turboed 1hz and the 1hdt motors swear by not going over 650 - 680 degrees

i agree allan , but as i said egt plays a big part and on the smaller vans the suppliers dont seem to be bothered , and it can save a shed load of bucks.

hi pieter , if you look at the cruiser guys the most fit a alarm system for exhaust gas temp ( madman / mgl avionics R) , not more than 650 / 680 deg , but you dont see them on the wl or kz's i think this is where the failures come from , all you need is just a small buzzer just to let you know back...

theo i have 1 of the 2.8 rads and olives is much thicker , that 4 core def does the trick with olive , but we did a merc 420 rad conversion on bens 80 ( 1 uz vvti )because he was pulling on the small top pipe and snapped it of , fitted 2 14 inch electric fans and it works a charm , the merc is 16mm ...

francisco any chance of taking a pic , at times with the sfa and we have found this now over say 10 off them that at times what works in 1 overheats on another , strange but they have given grey hairs at times. 1 example is a stock sfa double cab ( originally 2.8 diesel turbo ) with a kzte rad 2 12 ...

got 2 80's at the shop , 1 with 3uz and the other with the 1uz vvt if you want to check , both are running , and a 60 series body thats going on a fj80 chassis with a 3uz

you are right david , the only thing with the kz radiator it depends what bumper is on and if winch is fitted , then it can be a problem when loaded heavy , we have used the beemers but we have custom tanks done hugo as the pipes are not ideally situated , even in the cruisers i use the 420se merc r...

yip , do a 50mm body lift and even the standard sump and exhaust manifolds fit no problem , the transfer moves about 20 -25mm further back which is nothing.

will post some picks andries , why i like doing it this way is you keep 1 bend and a length of the straight stuff and you can fix any hose , if you go and get a funny shape one to fit , it does not mean that every spare shop will have it , so if it goes in the boondocks you are going to be stuffed.

craig the easiest way is we buy 38mm silicone hose bends and straight hose and then use stainless 38mm dairy tube and sometimes the bends as well for the rest.

johan just bare in mind with the manual you will be revving at 3400 - 3600 rpm at 120kph , but with the auto you will be in the 2400 - 2600 rpm range , this is why the consumption is better with the auto , if you are going the 22r box way just a friendly heads up the first time you get enthusiastic ...

2500 all in , but you must supply the rear housing ( the one that mounts your 4x4 lever in. )

if you have the 4 speed we normally remove the rear housing from the gearbox and machine it , then weld a 20mm ally plate on and then machine again for the auto box , modify the spline coupling and fit a 4 pulse ring on for the speed sensor. the props move maybe 20 - 25mm but they can take it withou...

johan if you dont have aircon then just run the belt from the top small idler pulley straight down to the crank pulley , there are 2 pumps that were fitted on the 1uz one when stripped of everything clears the belt , the other not and you will have to grind or machine a bit away to clear the belt. i...

johan the pump just above the crank pulley was for the hydraulic fan that was fitted in the lexus , if you route the belt around it like standard it will seize up unless you mod the thing ( either machine a hub that will fit back with the pulley or even fit a cambelt tensioner bearing from a smaller...

valid point nico , but when stripping you check these things , very seldom that they are an issue , i think out of 100 motors we might have had 1 that was buggered , but you can change it in a lux with out removing the motor.

i do agree pieter , if you are looking for better consumption the 2.2 will work well , you can stand it up straight but you just have to mod the sump and oil pick up. if i was looking for better consumption and maybe a bit more oomph i would go this route. why i am saying the lux is a good bet for t...
