strip motor normally heat size on one or two pistons so you can re bore and put new pistons or new sleaves you are still in for a bit of money.

Bumper to bumper should also have and most body part suppliers have books so you can identify the vehicle.Comercial auto parts jhb has taxi section just take sample.

looks like I am not the only one with KZTE problems mine packed up Sunday just outside Witbank had get my wife to tow me in.Previous block droped off at engineering should collect today and start the rebuild.

Kobus found the 4Y to be a real dog as suggested efi it and then it is a lot better I personally would have rebuilt the ford V6 suggest keep it until you have done a few trips.I am running KZTE in mine at moment.

You could fuel inject the motor the 3Y came out with it alternate is kzte I got a Toyota bell housing for my conversion.

I had similar issue and news was not good it was rings that had collapsed on no1 piston.Suggest you can also do a compression test.

The cheapest way I found is put a electric in line fuel pump and connected to ignition this way it will deliver fuel to pump.My stepfathers ML270 had very similar issues and this solved it.

Tony I used a QD32 pump on my SFA and I am sure that is for rack power steering.must add when I fitted it I had to move steering right to left for a while to get it working.

got 4y efi manifold injectors and MR Turbo box that I can sell you will have to find someone to fit it.The guys say it makes a big diffrence.

just rebuilt a kzte but block also suspect loosing water there as well.I could see the difference in hose pressure between old motor and this motor will have to fork R650 out for a gasket again and have another look.Also you can try pulling injectors out as if a cylinder is burning water it changes ...

Robbert what is the starter doing as earthing and the two positive supplies are crucial I have a 70 amp relay on mine.The recon unit is a good way to go.

phone around for a new alarm to be fitted I think I paid R1600 for my sfa because insurance demanded it.Then you have new remotes/alarm and a guarantee.If you are still looking someone I could ask my brother he worked in the Cape for 8 years for Netstar.

phone the scrap yards they have to keep all the records of the vehicles they get in including kilos.So if you take the time you will find a low kilo motor for a bit more than normal retail.

if it is town and farm short open road travel 2.4D on a uphill a donkey cart will overtake you.4y with efi is alright as to the people that have them.had a ford V6 in my SFA alright better than 4y.Driven WL(2.5d ford)nice motor and simple to maintain.Have got kZTE in my SFA with manual pump(5LT) run...

It sounds like a sincro gear.I took my box to a place in Benoni to assemble after we striped it to see what was broken.The owner should be able to tell you what is wrong as he does a lot of taxi boxes.

Dawie clean looking sfa very nice.
As what I was lead to believe a 4Y needs back pressure from the exhaust for torque.How much is a good question.

have spade in hilux at all times but sometimes the porta is necessary as have got one and only used it on one camp.the theory is my cooler box takes up more space so if my wife can live with that I can manage a porta poty.Also some times ground very flat for men fine but issue for laddies happy wife...

I would not put 3RZ IN by all accounts it is fuel thief and the 4 liter V6 a better option.Would do WL Mazda or Beams Toyota motor.Run Kzte on standard diff(petrol) and speed long road 100km true speed and not bad.

looking at fitting vigo rear leafs to the front of my SFA as I have heard good and bad about them all.will see if I can get it right it worked on a LR with good ride comfort so I am working on it.

I have a mechanical temp gauge and inter-cooler and no problems yet but I would be careful at pushing these motors flat out for long periods at a time.if you look after it it should be fine.

I run a toyota 5L t pump and I am sure my fuel consumption is not that bad but setup is different as running sfa box and diffs.

Allot of people are happy with there Unfortunate's and access is a lot easier unless you have a good canopy.However I would stick with a hilux as I can load stuff like wet tents,wood etc that I would not like to put in a Tuna.

The pump should have a daifram on it that allows for more diesel when turbo comes in is there vacuum on it.Just a thought.

My yaris(1.3) is the older or first in SA now 10 years old and 200000KM on clock and has been a good little car.However my economy is not as good.
