Re: 2004 hilux 2700i Gearbox
Thanks, I will be taking the vehicle to a gearbox specialist during the next two weeks. Will post what the final damage was in terms of mechanical as well as financial.

Re: 2004 hilux 2700i Gearbox
OK, that makes sense. I will then probably need to take the vehicle in and let them open the existing box and replace the parts that are faulty....
Will let you know what the damage was.

Re: 2004 hilux 2700i Gearbox
The only problem I have had in the past with recon gearboxes is that you never know what was actually replaced inside. I believe it is probably better to fix the existing gearbox albeit an expensive exercise. There are obviously good second hand gearboxes available out there but a person has to be c...

2004 hilux 2700i Gearbox
Hi, I own a 2700i 4x2 DC. I have started experiencing difficulties with the gearbox lately. It "jump" out of 5th gear intermittently and now it also jumps out of 4th whenever I change from 3rd and when I try to put it back into 4th there is a grating sound. I really don't want to do a serv...

2004 Hilux: Cracking sound when reversing
Morning all.
I have started experiencing a "cracking sound" when reversing. If the vehicle is stationery and I rotate the steering wheel it also makes a similar sound only close to full circle, both ways. Hope this description makes sense?
Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Hy trek reeds soos 'n 6 silinder of beter as sommige 6 silinders..... Ek d...

Some feedback after I installed a Dastek chip in my 2.7. I took a 250km drive around Barberton yesterday and all i can say is WOW what a difference. I now have some decent low down torque. What a pleasure driving the bakkie. Over the last few weeks I forgot I had a fifth, but now I can use it again....

Re: Replacing clutch
I have taken the vehicle to the local agents for something else and the technician advised that it sounded like the clutch. In the mornings I also sometimes battle to get reverse or first? Does this then sound more like gearbox related?

Replacing clutch
Afternoon all, I have started experiencing a constant "whine" whilst driving and have been told that it could be the thrust bearing that is playing up. As my Lux has over 230 000 k's on the clock, I suppose the clutch probably needs replacing. I tow a caravan every 2-3 months and my boat m...

I replaced the passenger side main leaf spring approximately 3000 km's ago as it had snapped in half. Whilst the leaf springs were out I had both sides re-tensioned and replaced all the bushes. I have now noticed that the vehicle is hanging on the drivers side, back and front. I inspected the leaf s...

I've had this problem before and it's not the brake fluid, all the adjustments needs to be corect. Make sure all the links, cables and springs are installed corectly and move free. The back drums wer...
