Had both and the 3.0d is definately the best and quietest, not a lot of difference in mpg.

The 2.5d is bit rougher running ounding than the 3.0d and a bit more economy and 3 power outputs depending on year
102 bhp, (mk5 and early mk 6) 120 bhp mk6 with bonnet intercooler scoop and newest 144 bhp, mk6/7 which also has the same maximum torque as the 3.0d but peakier.

I also thought about buying an Amarok but.........oh the problems they have been getting everything from electrical glitches to gearboxes, back axles, paint, fan belts coming off and pulling off the cam belts and recalls. Check out the Amarok forum...jeez Too old for all that hassle I`m sticking wit...

Have you tried just resetting the light ?

Open the drain and let out any water etc then reset the light and see if the light stays off.

The Hilux 2.5d in the UK got an intercooler late 2009 producing 120 bhp and later 144 which will be the power output of the OPs model.
