It,s a good motor that loves to rev, the bell housing is std toyota and it fits with space to spare. Is it the later version with the 2 turbo's?

The 3rz 2.7 conversion is the easiest and most reliable conversion you can do, all the parts exept the mountings are off the shelf, it can be fitted with an aftermarket EFI system or a carburettor, we have done both a few times, i prefer the carb for reliability and cost( about R7000.00 less). The first 2 Liter motor on this graph is not a 3Y, it's an 18R.

The 3Y had slightly less torque, but it could handle more revs than the 4Y, there isn't much difference in KW's.

Even a std hilux raider with std 31" tyres rubbed at the back, the best way around it is to move the axle forward. There is an extra hole 35mm back on the left spring perch, drill another one on the right, shorten the steering and tramp rods, drill the bumpstops and you can even fit 33" ty...

The 5MGE 2.8 DOHC 12 valve doesn't come with a carb, it's an older and less powerfull version of the 7MGE, it lacks torque at low rpm and it gives 30kw less than the 7MGE 3.0 L DOHC 24 valve and its the same job to fit, but the 5MGE did run cooler and gave better milage. Have the block skimmed and rebored, use good quality parts, reprofile the cam to brospeed spec and give the head a light flow job, add a branch and a freeflow to complete the package.
Please stay away from chinese import motors.

If you use a good quality gasket, it will have its own adhesive(it feels sticky), then you won't use anny other stuff. If it's a steel, or another "smooth" surface type, you can use copper gasket spray or silver paint.
I prefer to use OE, elring or payen gaskets.

It's easy to remove the sump and pistons in place as there is no x-member in the way, give it a light hone and make sure the rings is the right size, measure the gap with a feeler guage.

Many years ago, in the age of V6 Kombi's a home brewed conversion made it to my shop, the guy used a std geizer thermostat, ran the switching wires through a 5 pin relay and bob's your aunti! He made me promise not to change his "adjustable themostat" as it worked perfect!

Yes you can turn the inlet manifold around, i've done it on one. I've fitted vented discs on all the sfa hiluxes i've done with more HP, i am busy with another vew kits, annyone interested? I've used a 3.0 skyline complete instrument cluster in a few 7m conversions, it fits perfect, the rpm, speedo(220 km/h) and fuel guage calibrations are corect, it has volt meter and oil presure guages and it looks much neater, you have to do some wiring though.

Ek het n "jig" gemaak waarmee ek die "line up" presies reg kry om vibrasies te voorkom en om die hoogte bo die as reg te kry, as jy hom terugskuif is die mounts ook anders.

I removed the std plastic face that holds the radio and ashtray
I used aluminium treadplate and fabricated my own faceplate(only 2 bends and a bit of jigsaw work on the plate) no cutting on the bakkie.
The fm,29 and vhf fitted on top of each other, but you have to lose the ashtray.

Ons het al n 3.4 prado enjin gefit, hy trek soos n trein, amper beter as n lexus v8, in aus het hulle so uitgekom.

Jy kan n enjin van daar af bestel, daar is n paar jap importers in die states,van hulle suply die enjins met n staal gasket en hulle waarborg hom nie as jy hom nie opsit nie.
Ons het dit al oorweeg om enjins in te bring, maar jy moet n container vol inbring om dit die moeite werd te maak.

I have a 4.5 Landcruizer pick up for sale, at the current fuel price it will do a whole 35km on R100.oo, that calculates to R3.oo per km.
If you take it off road it will rize to R5.oo per km.

Fit the sparewheeltank and run the breatherhoses to the original filler(not to the tank)

The pre facelift one uses an air mass meter(on the aircleaner), it calculates the exact amount of air that enters the intake, whereas a map censor uses preprogramed information based on throtle input that is not always ideal.

Scorpion, so far the 'box is holding out fine, the motor revs much smoother and higher than the 3rz, the power curve is longer and flatter than any motor i have fitted and the sound is amazing! The fuel consumption is much the same as the 2.7 driven a bit harder, around 6 km/L. i used the std 2.7 ra...

I have fitted one, but i used the manual box, the gear ratios are perfect, the auto box will need lower diff ratios and the aftermarket controllers are troublesome.
