I had one...price is good assuming genuine kilos.

BUT...stay away from aftermarket modifications. Personally, I would not touch it.

If/when that head goes, you are in for R25k +

A fully charged battery should give you a reading of 14.2V - not 13V. The fact that it was on charge the whole day and reads only 13V tells you the battery needs replacing.

Wayne, I suspect part of the problem might be that the KZ typically has a cast iron block, in some cases cast-iron head and in some cases aluminum head. The petrols all come with alloy heads. I don't think there are too many KZ's out there of which the head is still in mint untouched condition whils...

You need to open the motor completely. Then I used copperlube - runs like a charm. The ghries they put in there becmes sticky over time and causes the motor to work too hard and pop the fuse.

No need for a new motor - just open, clean and lube with good stuff

Oops...I see Thabo and myself responding here in tandem on KZ's (I have the t-shirt). If you see traces of water overflowing from the reservoir because that is where your water is going...as Thabo says...start saving for that AMC head and keep water in the car. I can tell you it will last about 200k...

1000km later...60% long distance at speeds of 140-160km/h I managed 6.94km/L...not too shabby hey naaig...

Mine did the same and MAF was culprit...was the sensor clean when you looked inside? Two very thin wires in there that almost looks like something that should be in a globe...they must be spotless.

Anyway, hope they sort you out ASAP.

Does the idling also vary slightly? So, I mean idling smoothly and then roughly? Have you noticed a change in fuel consumption? Long shot, but I had a similar problem. Also replaced fuel pumps that was not needed... Take out the MAF sensor on the air intake.(Remove engine cover - sits left and there...

Electrical - check the fuse.

If the fuse keeps blowing, then the wiper motor is usually clogged. Take it out, dismantle, clean and ghries again,

Spoke to eastvaal toyota now (formerly Kyalami) and this is an old recall - basically the actuator on the rear diff on some models was faulty and this will show up when you engage diff lock and disengage but the light does not come off.

Vergeet van 'n chip - die koste daarvan teen die minimale beter verbruik het ek al uitgewerk gaan jou oor die 200 000km om die chip te betaal.

Haal die cats uit - baie beter besparing as chips en 'n fraksie van die prys

Myne dieselfde gedoen. Vervang jou rack ends (tie rod ends). R300 vir albei by Autozone en doen weer die wheel allignment.

I just took the cats out and even left sensors in place. I did not go for complete freeflow so still have one box right in the back. Car was always very quiet but now has a grunt to it, especially when you put your foot down. Nothing serious or disturbing and still very gentleman like...but you can ...

I thnk I might gain a very slight improvement - biggest reason would be to protect the engine with cleaner air: From 4x4connection Q. Will fitting a Safari snorkel effect the fuel consumption? A. OK, so I can tell you in town I used to get about 6.1-6.3km/L and since the cats are gone, getting 6.9km/L. Will be driving opend road next week to see what happens. At this stage then R300 very well worth spending. Next thinking of adding a snorkel as that might have another small impact. Which mea...

Friend had one - blew the engine on 80 000km and cost R82k to fix.
Services and parts were VERY expensive. He was not impressed.

Bought a Cruiser 4.0L V6 - no on 300 000km and not a single problem (he does about 100 000km/year)

He would not touch a F250 again

know what you are referring to. Mine does not do it, but a friend of mine's V6 does...

some do, some don't...not an issue. turn up the volume on the radio or as the one suggested, toss the cats and get a freeflow (but then it grunts beeg time...)

Ek was nou al baie in Mosambiek en het ook daar gewerk vir 'n jaar - ek weet nie of jy op hierdie stadium 'n trip in daai geweste moet onderneem nie. Wag om te kyk wat gebeur met die Renamo/Frelimo konflik. Laasweek is twee mense doodgeskiet naby Beira.

Prado - when a diesel breaks it breaks properly and will cost a lot of money.

When you buy second hand, rule of thumb - go for petrol. Mine is on 310 000 and has not missed a beat.

Had two...both cracked cylinder heads, on one the turbo went as well. ...and I don't drive like a maniac and very particular about services. I am cured of diesel for ever and a day. Now a converted petrol head and my Hilux 4.0 is standing on 301 000 and my wife's prado 3.4 V6 on 306 000... No hassle...

Not to rub salt on your wounds...but 2 x kzte motors failed on me with the subsequent result that I am now a converted petrol head.

And interestingly enough, going to Zambia in December petrol available everywhere - diesel tanks ran dry, too many big trucks...

My load bin area seems to be "hanging" a bit. Been under there but cannot see anything obviously wrong.

Any ideas? Could it be the leaf springs or the shocks?
