Its a common problem with the motorized actuators, especially if the vehicle has done some wading. I imagine that the units should be removed and serviced periodically, also making sure that the seals are in good order.

If it's a bolt on pulley, then all you need to do is to have an engineering works put new bolt holes with the required PCD on a grooved pulley.

Just thinking that a low profile pipe bumper in front with a small stinger will enhance the "Bad Boy" look quite a bit, not to mention that it might save the radiator as well next time you ditch it.

Hi Danie. Yes it makes sense. As you know, a diesel doesn't require any electrical input at the motor to keep running - as long as there is fuel being injected it will carry on. If the fuel cut-off solenoid was sticking in the open position, then you would be able to start as normal, but not switch ...

A gas flowing of the head will always give a little better performance but the gains hardly warrant the effort / expense in my opinion. Then I'm not so sure about the cam .... I took mine out and replaced it with a standard one. The reason was that at low revs there was a very significant power loss...

John, what I found out is that the cold start enrichment is controlled by the ECU through the injectors .... no cold start valve. I'm also told that the most common issue is the cold temp reading that the sensor sends through to the ECU. Apparently it should read somewhere in the region of 20°C. You...

I think the Mercury is an older generation ECU. Will do a few enquiries about cold start enrichment with that unit and no cold start valve and then come back to you.

Normally meths takes it off if it hasn't been ther too long but it also depends on what solvent base the manufacturer used. Worth a try, but don't use acetone of thinners, it will definitely damage the paint.

Its a bit too deep and narrow to get a grinding tool in there, unless it's a cable extension for a Dremel. Drill machine won't get in. Also think that a lower speed setting would be more effective.

If oil gets into the coolant, it becomes a grey sludge that rises to the top of the radiator. It still feels oily between the fingers.
