Cassie, there is only one connector on the unit so the external would replace the standard one. Don't have a picture of it I'm afraid.

George, I'm going to mount my gps in a DIY roof console where the rear view mirror is & the standard antenna will a) be in the way & b) not pick up any signal. This will keep the dash clear. Don't need the mirror coz going to build an alu canopy without windows for security.

Steve sounds very very interesting, could you fit two radios in there aswell?

Would you mind sharing your design with the rest uf us.

I need a roof console aswell, and also thought of using the attachement points of the roof light and rear view mirror to hold the roof console and that it should take my dragon and kenwood vhf radio. But your idea is even better to include the BIG 276, which takes up half the SFA windscreen :)
