29mhz or VHF

Post by ismail »

My license free 2 way radios packed up, now im looking at getting a real radio.

I see with the last couple of events (WC) the guys are using vhf's, for rent etc, killerdeals are having a navstar 220 for R900 which isnt bad, but if no-one uses them anymore then its bit pointless.

We use VHF on events and are trying to persuade everybody who have to get new radios to go the VHF route as they are just so much better especially if we are in mountain areas.

Yes Chris, the ORRA channels is the main reason why the club joined AAWDC.
If we use the ORRA channels we can all communicate with each others and other clubs who also use ORRA.

I agree, if you do not have something like ORRA you are limited to the couple of people who shares your frequency.

We did consider our own frequency but because half the club is up north and half down here we will end up with that problem where we will be 6 lonely vhf friends down in the cape who can only share our thoughts among each other and another 8 up north.

So at this stage the 2 ORRA frequencies make more sense

Net 'n vragie.

Word die ORRA lisensie net so aanvaar, of moet mens nog papiere kry ?
