Radio help

Re: Radio help
Hi Juan and welcome to the family. Don’t forget to post a pic or 2 of your truck.
Regarding the licensing of you radio, I would suggest you talk to Eric (Family_Dog) He is our Radio man. There is nothing he won’t be able to assist you with.
According to my knowledge the easiest way of obtaining your license would be to register with ORRA (OFF ROAD RADIO ASSOCIATION) but you need to be a paid-up member of the Hilux4x4 club. That gives you access the ORRA and HILUX4x4 frequencies. You can also purchase a radio directly from Eric which he programs etc. In this case the radio is licensed and not the person so that means that should you want 4 radios, you need to register all of them with ORRA.
The other alternative if to get your armature radio license but that is much more difficult as you have to write an exam and pass. This is way too much hassle unless it is going to be a hobby in my opinion. This is the route I am taking next year just for fun. An expensive hobby if you go all out.
This is just my 2cw but I am sure the others would correct me if I am wrong and give you more information.

Don’t be sorry, be careful. Dit is nie n probleem nie, dit is hoekom daar “moderators” is. Hulle doen min genoeg. Please don't ban me. I was only joking.Obelix4eva wrote:Sorry ouens ek kan ni fotos post nie ek het nie by my nie en ek is op n skip in Malysia so sal ees fotos kan op sit as ek by die huis is so rondom die einde van Janurie.

Re: Radio help
Welkom hier.

You guys are making me blush! My red nose is not from partaking of any alcoholic beverages! ;)
Juan, I will email you a price list in a few moments. Should you want a radio (as long as it's a Kirisun PT3600 portable or a Kirisun PT8100 Mobile radio - the same as Val's), there is a very good chance that I can give it to Bretton tomorrow (Sunday) and he can bring it down to CT sometime next week. I have stock of these at home, so no problem and they are already programmed.
Alternatively, we do courier and courier charges to CT for a Mobile radio and antenna was about R220.00 for the last package we sent down.
Val, I have edited the email address you supplied, we have since acquired a new one due to problems with the previous ISP. The telephones are connected to a pre-recorded message at the moment and we re-open 16th January.

We'll overlook it this time. The only "Ooms" on this forum are Andy(Mud dog) & Mark (Ooooms). They jealously guard this position, so I am quite happy with being called "Neefie" ;)
