GPS Please help

Post by sir shrek »

Hi Guys

I need to get myself a GPS.
Resently I was down in Cape town using a Garmin Nuvi 1200.
I have to say that it really worked well for my needs.
I will be going down again in two weeks time but I need to get my own.
The only thing that I need is a cheap reliable GPS with maps for South Africa and I need to load maps for Namibia as I am planning a holiday there in the near future.
Some people say TOM TOM and others say GARMIN.
I have used a few Garmins but I'm not familiar with Tom Tom.

Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!!

Claude, the Tom-Tom is good for taking you through people's houses, and through farms where there are no gates.

Nuvi 2460 as Ooooms recommends, otherwise the Nuvi 500 is a bargain with its somewhat smaller screen, but is as rugged as hell, waterproof and one can replace the battery when it's necessary. The Nuvi500 is selling at less than half its original selling price.
