Thanks Cassie
The brochure does not say much though, and my Turkish is not good.
Even that Turkish one seems a little limited...

Re: PT8100 user manual
Never mind... I found what I was looking for
I had some time waiting in the bakkie, so I experimented with pushing all the buttons... I eventually found how the thing works.
Oh, and I also found my manual after tidying the garage
Steve, do you really need a copy? I can scan it for you, but will take some time

Re: PT8100 user manual
Must admit I was also going to try scan it, but it will be very time consuming if one wants to get the pages in the right order. I could not get a PDF copy from the Distributors either, only the Service Manual, which we already had and it would not help you very much.
So.... look after your manuals!! ;)

Exactly why I wanted the manual.Traveler wrote:How do I get it to SCAN?
I wall want to know.
It will only scan IF it has been programed to scan. My P1 button has been set as the scan button.
Press P1 to start and stop scanning.

Re: PT8100 user manual
The radios are not programmed to scan. Although the radios have 9 channels (new ORRA plan), there are still only three frequencies being used. If the radios are set to scan, it will scan each frequency three times, once for "No Tone", and once for each of the two Tones per channel. Now the scanning only works on frequencies, not on the different tones. So if someone calls you on, say, ORRA 1, you will pick this up in three different places but you will only be able to talk *if* you happen to be on the exact channel, and not on one of the others to which the radio will lock upon receiving a signal.
The other problem is that the more channels you scan, the more likely you are to miss a call on the correct channel. For EG:, if I call the word "Roy" on Channel 2, and Roy is scanning 9 channels, he is more than likely not to hear the word "Roy" at all.
Guys, we tried setting a few functions previously on radios, but it caused confusion amongst users so we have made it as simple and fool-proof as possible. Remember, those of you in Metropolitan areas will have radios permanently locked to the old ORRA 1 channel, due to the radio congestion on those channels if scan was enabled.
Make sense?

Re: PT8100 user manual
Thanks F_D. It does make sense, and I was well aware of the "problem" with scanning, but I still asked Joe to program it like that - just coz it can!
But when doing a trail together with a group, it will always be on a specific channel, no scanning.
I want to test at how fast the scan will react to a transmit frequency.
I know with my GME, it does take a while to scan through all channels, so I can imagine missing a "quick" transmit from someone.
But still, my guess is that people press, take a breath, then start the transmit, and so I could at worst miss the "XRAY" but still get the EIGHTY-EIGHT.
