NEW ORRA CHANNEL PLAN - 2012>
Posted: Fri Nov 30, 2012 12:40 pm
NOTICE TO ALL ORRA RADIO USERS:
Please note that ORRA issued a new channel plan with effect from December 2011. The
channels have been shuffled so as to discourage the use of the very old ORRA 1 frequency,
which was hopelessly congested particularly in the Metropolitan areas. The old ORRA 1
frequency is also not compliant with many Mobile antennas due to it being very far apart from the
two newer frequencies. Therefore, the channel plan was revised and users are encouraged to
make use of the “new” ORRA frequencies, Channels 1 – 4 in the revised plan.
However, people with the older channels are still able to talk to those with the newer channels
according to the following chart.
Please make use of the new Channel 1 as a main frequency, equivalent to Channel 4 for those
with the old channel plan.
Users with the older channel plan can have their radios reprogrammed at any of the approved
dealers listed in ORRA’s website http://www.orra.co.za/approveddealers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or by sending the
radios to us, together with your proof of membership of ORRA. Reprogramming is R50.00 per
radio excluding delivery to, and collection from, Repcom.
Channel 9 is not programmed into the 8-Channel models. It is not really used by ORRA and you
need not concern yourself if the radio does not have it.
ORRA COMPATABILITY CHART Both Cassie and I have posted this previously, but I can't find those posts...
