Wich Handheld radio?

I bought a set of Zartec Pro8 radio's a few years ago, and they have now given up the ghost.
I was never realy quite happy with their range an dI am now looking for something a bit "better".

I am looking for handheld radio's (licence free) with the best posible range and durability/life expectancy

All the main outdoor retailers seem to sell Zartec. Is Zartec still the best way to go? Or is there other brands that are better quality or offer better value for money?

Looking for any input...

Community forum speaks highly of the RTS Bosvark, I have a comparison between the most popular license free radios. The Bosvark had the best coverage between them. I could mail you the comparison chart if you are interested.

FD is the man to speak to. I have the "older" Vratvark, I dropped it from a 2m scaffolding and send it for a antenna replacement. And I must say spares and service is in good supply. And as you all know, FD gives excellent service.
