I dont know Cape Salmon (Geelbek) at all. A friend got one from a friend and since he sees me as the fish braai specialist I were invited to his place this weekend to braai his fish for him.

I have no cooking clue, never braaied one of these.
Is it a fish you can braai?
How do one prepare this thing?

jy sal weet as hy reg is hy sal met jou praat... geniet hom..

It is very tasty if cooked properly on a braai...I agree with Thys... cook it slowly with skin side down on the braai... baste it with butter and lemon juice mixture and a bit of garlic if you like garlic.... and when the fish looks like the flakes can seperate a bit, not totally then turn it over for a short time... the skin should be nice and crispy... but make sure the fire is not too hot otherwise it just burns the outside and the flesh is still raw... Enljoy it...

Ja Nic I understand you may only catch two per day or something

Thanks Thys, Aunty Val and Oom Dan, so it seems like I can just braai it the same as snoek.

Thanx guys, the vissie was very lekker. Braaid it like a snoek, but it is a thicker fish than a snoek so I could see why Thys said you should braai it very slow.

Pieter,
