CADAC SAFARI CHEF

Post by Rusti »

Hi guys and girls.

I found this Safari Chef on Gumtree a few months ago so we tested it out last night before our upcoming camping trip. It's great! We had never seen one before so I thought I would post it here for those that have also not seen one before and may be looking for gas equipment for the holidays.. They go for about R1300 new including the gas extension pipe. Otherwise you can pop one of those small disposable bottles instead. I got everything including a large Cadac grill for R500 total.. The 2kg gas bottle I bought 2nd hand for R250. With a bit of gas in it too..

The legs fold away so it all comes in a neat bag, with your gas bottle in the other hand.. It's lid is also a wok and the cast iron plate is flat on one side and grill on the other. And it has a drip tray so all the mess runs into that.. I cook quite a bit at home and am a bit of a braai master and I was seriously impressed.. We just did some kazzlers and some sweet corn fritters.. it was very sterdy.

Hope this is helpful to the other less experienced campers like me out there.

I've got one of those, have had it for close on ten years. Very versatile piece of equipment. Use mine with the disposable gas cannisters. Makes A1 french toast :laugh2:

Ja I was so surprised how well it works and how strong it is even with the foldable legs. And the drip catch tray makes it real easy to clean. Real quality product.

Have also had one for (I guess) 8 years or so. Very handy. It packs away in a low-lid ammo box with space for other fire/braai goodies.
