Post by mandevu »

guys

does any one have any exp in driving both of these cars :?:
i may be off my rocker and have been wanting to buy the prado for some time now ... but.... now that i can afford one , this german also got stuck in my head :? :wth:

i have been driving toyota fotr the last 8 years .... no problems at all

i can get a 2005 prado 4.0 with fsh and 250k on the speedo for the same price as a 2005 touareg v10 tdi also fsh but with only 150k on the clock for the same price!! :wth:

concidering fuel econemy and prices, sevice intervals and costs ect. and keeping in mind that it is gonna be an everyday car for SWAMBO (not a lot of offroading will be done) , i would realy like to hear from any one what they would choose.... :beg:

Tuff call, for sure....! The V10 is an awsome race machine, but when is't kapuut you gonna cry. Drove in on to Moz and back...wow all I can say, it's half a race ing machine. Needless to sat the owner gave it back to VW as it was giving maaaaany other problems.

Prado 120. lovely motor vehicle, would trade the Tuna for one if it wasn' for the consumption. But being a Toy man, I would choose the....Prado

Ruhan, the V10 was one of my dream vehicles. I heard from a couple of guys, and it was somewhere discussed on the 4x4community forum, that they have this bad habit of blowing a turbo. If it blows a turbo apparently you have to replace it as a set and that will cost you a mere R60,000. So seems like if it is not under motor plan anymore, it is something to treat with gloves.

A Touareg out of guarantee and over 100k on the clock??? and you had to save for it? Let say, if you can not afford it new, then you cannot afford to maintain it. A mate had one and didn't have too much trouble with it BUT when he wanted to sell he took a serious knock and it took him over a year to find a buyer!

Think reliability and resale - Prado will be the winner everytime!

O ja, the Touareg does not like water or continuous sand!

Have driven both and when it comes to performance the Touareg beat the Prado hands down but everything further belongs to the Prado.
I would go for the Prado
03 - Cruiser 105 GX
97 - Hilux 2.4 D/C -
05 - Pajero 3.2 DID SWB ( Ma se kar)
01-Prado 3.0 d (Gesien -Geniet - GEROL))

Prado wins hands down! The VW is a great car but just too fancy to be able to afford. Engine repairs cost an arm and a leg, as Pieter said, do a search on the Community Forum and read all about it there.

Touareg is a great comfortable CAR, maintenance on the diesel is verry expensive, and I sell VW spares. My money, I would buy a prado. If I had to buy a Touareg it would be a 4.2 V8, my father has one of those, it is one awsome machine.

The VW is an awesome machine, but IMHO I would rather stay with Yota and take the Prado.
