Proud Prado history

Post by GaryJ »

As a result of all the queries and reports regarding the kzte motor, I deciced to join this forum, and share my experience. Please note that this is not to boast, or challenge any other vehicle, I am merely extremely proud of my vehicle.

I drive a 2003 Prado kzte, which is used daily on an opencast mine, on roads, and is cleaned up for holidays. I use no special diesel or lubricants, give the car no special attention, only a service every 10 000km or so.

The vehicles history is as follows:

- At 200 000km a new radiator was fitted.
- At 320 000km a new head was fitted.
- At 380 000km a new pinion seal was fitted.
- Brake pads as neccesary, and batteries for the remote.

I have never touched: Turbo, pump, injectors, gearbox, diffs, wiring, exhuast or anything else.

The vehicle now has 400 000km on the clock, and drives at least as well as the day it was new. Not one rattle or squeak, suspension sound, not a drop of oil between services. Not even a sweat of oil on the engine, gearbox or diffs. I cannot believe this vehicle, and wonder what I could ever possibly replace it with. Not boasting - Just very proud/stunned.

Only because it has a Toy badge on it, of course

Q: Why was the radiator replaced at 200000km's?

The radiator started to leak in the center. I suspected it was damaged while offroad, but i was never sure. Cost 5k

Did you replace the radiator with the standard Prado radiator?
