Good day,

I would like to service my Prado 90, 3.4l petrol. Does anyone know what needs to be replaced, when, and what the part numbers are?

Every 10k km:
Oil
Oil filter
Air filter

Every 40k km:
Diffs
Transfer
Gearbox

Every 80k km
Cam belt

Cam belt - interval is 150 000km (it is a free spinning motor so even if it did snap, cannot cause damage).
I do every 10k oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter and I clean the MAF sensor.

Have a look at http://www.pradopoint.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for loads of info

Thanks,

How do you clean the MAF sensor?

What about spark plugs?

Apparently, the last time my Prado went in for a service (at an Indie), the spark plugs was replaced with plugs that do 80k km? Can this be true?

Thanks,
J

Oops, when I asked Midas for an air filter, they showed a rectangular thingy, not a round cylindrical one. (I suspect it must be for a Camry)

What is the price of an Air filter, and what is a decent make (FRAM, GUD). Toyota charges R1100 for a filter ...

Platinum coated spark plugs can last that long. I have them in.
Air filter, normal GUD. Look at part number of filter that is in. The book that they use at Autozone and these places list the wrong part number.
Clean MAF sensor with small, fine paint brush - carefully.

Jaco,

I will have a look in the service book what gets done on the services.

The coolant is due every 40000km on these engines AFAIK, with the filters.

Spark plugs is only due at 60/90000 km interval as they are a special long lasting twin ground plug

Cambelt due at 150000km's, when doing the cambelt on 300000Km's replace the tensioner, waterpump, thermostat and the rollers also as you don't want to have to redo all that work for a noisy roller or leaky waterpump.

Oils are to be replaced every 40000km in the diffs front and rear with transfer case.
Auto box fluid can be replaced (flush torque convertor) every 100000 km or more frequent if towing heavy loads.
I would replace it also every 40000km's if the box is being worked hard and high temperatures.

Replace the radiator if the top tank start to turn brown colour as it is showing signs of ageing and loosing the radiator will cost you easy 25K to redo both heads and replace the radiator.

What mileage is your Prado on Jaco??

Hi Jaco

Hy het so 'n simpel allen key tiepe filler plug.
Dit strip maklik. My onderste een is getrip en sit geweldig styf vas.

As jy 'n auto het kan ek my stappe hier noem.

Does anyone know what the price is on the MAF sensor? Is it the same for the Auris?

Gee, ok. Thought that if it is in the region of R400, to replace it, but at that price I would rather just clean it.

Thanks

Jaco,
