African Offroad Academy (WC) - New Training Programmes

During 2010 African offroad Academy (Western Cape) only presented the full accreditation training programme, but we identified the need for a more basic "entry level" training programme. To this end we developed a Basic 4x4 & Offroad driver training course. This is a training course developed for the new comer to the off road scene.

Attached is a schedule of our training weekends up to December 2011 in order for you to book training at a suitable time. If there are enough people interested for training on another date, this can be done with prior arrangement.

1. PHASE 1 BASIC 4X4 & OFFROAD DRIVER TRAINING

DESCRIPTION
This learning programme has been designed for the "newbie" 4x4 and off-road vehicle operator who has little or no off-road driving experience and who would like to use their 4x4 and off-road vehicle in a safe, effective & environmentally friendly manner.

This learning program serves as a first step in the accreditation process for full accreditation under the approved 4x4 & Offroad Driver unit standard (US254135). Successful completion of the Phase 1 training entitles the learner to follow the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process to gain a Driver Competency Certificate (DCC).

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
Phase 1 consists of a practical driver training course, presented by fully qualified and accredited 4x4 & Offroad Instructors. Attending this training program the learner will gain knowledge and practical experience in the following:
· Tyre Deflation
· Driving on different surfaces (sand/mud/rock)
· Water crossings
· Assessing obstacles
· Safety Procedures
· Safety equipment
· Convoy driving procedures
· Safe recovery procedures
· Recovery equipment
· Vehicle preparation

ASSUMED LEARNING
It is assumed that the learner assessed will be in possession of a code A, B or EB drivers licence.

DURATION
5 Hours

COST
R 600.00 per person

ON THE DAY WE PROVIDE:
Access and use of suitable training facility.
Facilitation by a trained accredited instructors.
Morning: light refreshments.

THIS EXLUDES:
This does not include the use of an off- road vehicle and fuel.
Vehicles are available at additional cost and prior arrangement.
Overnight accommodation and camping can be arranged at an additional cost.


2. FULL ACCREDITED LEARNING PROGRAM ACCORDING TO THE UNIT STANDARD 254135
US 254135 apply the techniques for operating four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, in on-road and off-road conditions.

LEVEL/CREDITS
The competent learner will be credited on the National Learner Record Database with: NQF level 3 Credits 4

ASSUMED LEARNING
It is assumed that the learner assessed on this unit standard will be in possession of a code A, B or EB driver license.
Communication on NQF Level 2

DURATION
2 Day (Weekend)

COST
R1500.00

INCLUDES:
Facilitation day
· Access and use of approved training facility.
· Facilitation by a trained accredited instructor.
· Approved learning material.
· Refreshments and lunch.

Assessment Day
· Access and use of approved training facility.
· Assessment by a trained accredited assessor.
· Approved assessment material.
· Refreshments.
· Proof of competence.
· The successful learner will receive:
· Accredited Certificate of Competence
· Cloth logo
· AOA Peak Cap

EXCLUDES:
This does not include the use of an off-road vehicle and fuel.
Vehicles are available at additional cost and prior arrangement.
Overnight accommodation and camping can be arranged at an additional cost.

· Practical Demonstrations

Thanks Mark, last year was a bit hectic, and we took a bit of time to settle in, but over the Christmas break Anton and I sat down and ironed out some of the niggles, and we also took the positive input from the guys who attended our courses last year to improve the structure and contents of the training programmes. Here's looking forward to a very busy productive year of hard work... :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

Cool. I'll let you know if any mates are interested but want to make sure I'm on that list first. I was suprised to see you there too - if you want to escape without getting caught, use another car or wear a helmet!

Ek sien al die kursusse is by Atlantis. Is die permit fooi adisioneel tot die R600 ?

Interesting how deep is the water crossing in AD as i need to read my vehicles specs on the depth.

Anton - Daar is nie 'n ge-akkrediteerde kursus vir Mei maand geskeduleer nie, weens ander verpligtinge, maar daar is wel 'n inleidingskursus op 14 OF 15 Mei afhangende van die belangstelling.

Chris - Die inleidingskursus sal op een van die 2 dae geskied, weereens afhangede van die belangstelling. Die permitfooi is ingesluit by die R600. As jy 'n seisoenkaartjie het betaal jy nie die permitfooi nie en word dit afgetrek by die R600.

Clarence - Your pipe-car will be able to handle the water crossings at Atlantis. :twisted: :twisted:
