How is this for excellent service?

I was complaining about the Aygo's engine noise since I bought it on 14,000km. Toyota sent their specialist to listen to it who made it off as normal engine grunt.
Turned out that on 75,000km they eventually opened the engine and found that is was in fact piston slap like I told them 2 years ago.

So for 2 years I have been complaining at each service.

Now they have my car, they had it for exactly a week now.
They established that they will only have a new sub on 27 Nov.

The dealer had to get quotes to rent a courtesy vehicle for me. Worse of all the dealer had to write a motivation as to WHY this Fu^%#$ silly client should get a courtesy vehicle.
To help Toyota to decide whether I am worthy of getting a courtesy vehicle I called them on Friday to lodge a formal complaint.
They will be getting back to me and I am still waiting.
I gave them my car last week Monday, it is exactly a week now and they cannot even tell me yet if I am worthy of getting a courtesy car or not and that after they have been aware ( and ignored it) about the problem on the vehicle for 2 years.

Friend of mine drives a BMW, you know those unreliable cars with over inflated value and no resale value?
Well at least every time when his BM goes in for repair work and he is without wheels for more than a day he gets a courtesy car.

Ja Thys, that is part of the problem. The cars are reliable and we silly fools love the cars. But Toyota misuse that and think they are too good to offer real service. They treat their customers like crap because the customer will not go away because he wont find such a reliable car anywhere else.

Now there is a mixup in the feedback.

TSA says they found parts and it is already at JHB. Should be at Vredenburg tomorrow and that is why they cannot give a car because my car will be fixed this week.

I contacted the workshop and asked them if they know anything about this. They said NO, the feedback they received this morning was that instead of 27 Nov the new ETA for the sub is 15 Jan.

So time will tell. Let's see who has the correct date.
I surely hope that TSA has the correct date.

And Chris, No, I did not break it, you sounds like me wife. :shock2:

Time to take a page out of BMW Motorcycles' book -

take the bike in for a minor service and you can CHOOSE:

- pre book for a MORNING service, AND get a breakfast voucher at a the centre next door

OR

- a courtesy bike ...

Book your bike for a bigger service - and you CAN ask for a courtesy bike (need to do this when making the appointment) .... once they know you, you get one of the NEW (demo) bikes as your courtesy for the day !

CARS ... yet to experience anything even remotely close to this !!

I have bought 8 brand new cars over the years, 7 different brands, here are my experience\satisfaction levels:
- Atos - BEST service of the lot. Bought it for my mom and they absolutely delivered service like I would expect from a MUCH more expensive car.
- Uno - second best service, both sales and after sales. (ironical as I hear so many bad stories of after sales with Fiat, yet they gave me excellent service)
- Opel Corsa bakkie .. okay
- Suzuki Jimny ... okay, except for the way they did not deal with the steering wobble ..
- Mazda ... okay, actually got damn good service out of that little car !!
- Polo 1,6 .... purchase experience was a disaster !! not a bad car, but never got to liking it (think I missed my bakkie too much) sold it with 12k on the clock.
- Hilux - sales experience good. After sales PATHETIC
- Etios - sales experience good. After sales PATHETIC .... seeing a pattern here ....

The ONLY time I had a loaner - when the Atos went to the panelbeaters for a week.

I experienced this when I had my Dakar.
When I took my bike for a service I could always choose whatever demo model they had on the floor. Whether they were busy with my bike for half a day or more than a day, it was always the same thing.

Hmmm .... not good! One hears all too often about their poor a/sales service and just a lack of helpfulness. Not ggod for the customer and not good for the brand - perhaps they should be made aware of this thread. TSA is also notoriously appathetic by all accounts - I wonder how Toyota Japan would feel about the way their brand is treated here.

Andy I have NOT had good service from our friends at Barloworld Toyota ....

4 of the last 7 services ended up in the Hilux or Etios going back to the workshop to be serviced properly !! :(

The ONLY way to get some action is to walk down to the dealer principle.

Emailing the dealer principle did not help
emailing Toyota SA did not help

The last time I emailed:
Toyota SA
Dealer principle
AND the dealer principles of the other two branches in the franchise .... suddenly the phone started ringing and they wanted to resolve the issues ....

Although I am still without wheels, I received confirmation that the new sub assembly will be in Vredenburg either tomorrow or Thursday.

Is even worse than that. Me office is 1.5km from home.
Me wife office is 25km from home.
Guess who have to drive the Hilux and guess what it cost us?

Biggest problem is I cannot visit my CPT shop because the scooter wont make it to CPT.

Pieter....op n ernstige nood. Ek het al vir kliente NUWE karre gegee vir baie kleiner probleme op hul voertuie.

Dis jammer dat die probleem nou eers uitgesort word. Hopelik loop hy binnekort so goed soos n Polo.

Taking a turn for the better. Vredenburg branch called me today and confirmed that the sub assembly will be there by Thursday and also said they will give me a car tomorrow.

Sorry Allan, seems like the freebees function will not happen!

Received the Aygo back yesterday.
Was impressed with them because they did the whole microdot and police clearance on my behalf.

She is running smoother and quieter now, will only be able to do long run test next week.

I now have a different problem. They gave me a 1.6 Corolla to drive with. :slap:
I realised that the seat can fold down and I actually managed to put a 1.8 Awning inside the car.
It is also rather comfortable, but road noise about the same as Aygo which is very disappointing.

BUT I now saw that for the less money than a new Aygo you can buy a second hand 2010 onwards 1800 Corolla
with all the bells and whistles and leather seats and if you lucky under 100,000km on the clock.
I saw a a nice 2010, 1800 advanced with 110,000km on the clock for R125,000 and we all know 100k Km is just the run in millage.

That is R26k more than I paid for may Aygo.

OK fuel consumption will not be close to the Aygo, but load space, comfort and safety would be a bit better.
Not the most beautiful and exciting car on the market but it seems practical.
