Hi All,

For those who are on cellc, double check your February invoice, I was invoiced a higher amount. So I phoned 140, and got the following explanation - They increased all users on CellC subscription fees. Can you believe it? I mean, I signed a 24 month contract in September 2013, they did not tell me that they will increase my rates in 2015, otherwise I would never have signed the deal.

Is this at all legal? Can you sign a contract for 24 months and 18 months into the deal your subscription get increased? If it is legal, I will move to a different network as soon as my contract ends in September!!!!

Bad service from CellC, imagine how many million clients will receive their shock of their lives when they open their invoice!

Been very unhappy with these monkeys since switching in 2013 so if this is so, more ammo to give them the boot.

Did a quick check and yes... my subscription has increased as of 1 Jan 2015... by R35.

Spoke to a friend with inside knowledge, he says that there is an escalation clause in the CellC contracts. I'm anyways sick and tired of their poor network, so I'm going to migrate to MTN or Vodacom at the end of this contract. I really like supporting competition/the underdog... but this underdog I'm now gatvol of!

Since Mr. Knot-Craig had his second stroke Cell C has gone downhill. It is apparently now run mafia style.

Can you believe it! Imagine how many million people will complain - anyway, I posted it on Helopeter too. Want to see their excuse. I agree with Mr B, when my contract expires in September, I will be out of that Gravy train.

So the next question is: Which Network?

- Telkommobile (Which uses MTN towers as support)
- MTN
- Vodacom (bit pricey, but I believe good signal)

After my travels this past December it's easy to answer... Vodacom. My FIL has a VC contract and had signal all the way enroute between Cape Town and JHB, on the N1 and N12 routes. Of course, alot of the time CellC(my contract) had zilch signal.

MTN signal is very kaaaaak... You drop a call atleast twice in a 2 minute conversation while on the road in CBD area.... i suspect this is when there is a tower change... I will MOST DEFINITELY go back to vodacom when my contract expires...

Good luck to all of you on Cell C, it is the worst cellular network provider! Even Telkom mobile is better.

Called them, reason for increase is contract term is over so they sommer bill me full price... No notification, Nada! So, had to call another number to cancel contract, and the stupid person on the other side asked if she can compensate me with 2 months of 500mb of data if I stay... Really!!?? The conversation was basically a begging session of trying to keep me as client. Eventually I lost it (after 7 Min of this crap) and she put me on hold for about a Min to 'submit' my cancellation. And to ass insult to injury, she then says I will be billed end of the month again as the number will only terminate on 20 March...

Yep, that is the norm, I had the same with CellC and they actually told me that the contract auto renewed after the original term expired, but that was resolved by adding very big words to the conversation.

That being said, I will never get a cell contract from any provider again, prepaid is the way. I dont want to get tied down to contracts where ever I can avoid it :naah:

Weird all this, I am on a 24 month contract with VC which is renewed every 24 months and I do not pay by debit order, I pay via EFT once I receive their invoice. Last year during the PO strike, I never received an invoice at all and skipped paying a month, they did not even shout at me. Ain't that wunnerful!!
