Thanks guys, I have the infectious disease called "Toyotaitus". I can't resist them! I think it's because both the 3Y & 4Y have had some very rough times in their life, yet still perform flawlessly when required.
Piet, the 2.7 came standard with the running boards as shown. I was always going to replace the boards on both the 4Y and 2.7i, but with the raised suspension I have never yet had a problem. I am seriously thinking of putting rock sliders on the 4Y, but none of the local engineering places I have spoken to are keen to do the job

Thanks, Rite 1.
I get a lot of fun out of them all. The Baby has since acquired a canopy, I must post it's new photo some time. I originally had the tonneau cover, but it was awkward when transporting groceries (like an oven inside there!) and taking the dogs for a spin. The new F/G canopy makes life so much easier now!

The NudgeM BB fitted to the 4Y DC:
We had to make a special bracket to mount the Hellas, as the spots were too large to fit onto the standard spot mounts. This puts them closer together, but I have had no overheating issues.

The Cooler Box as an arm rest is a great mod, and gives you a good place to rest the left elbow!
The Cool Drink Holder folds away when not required. The box plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a "Hot" or "Cold" position. Current consumption was relatively high at about 4 amps, so be sure to unplug it when not using the bakkie!

Re: F_D's Toys
Hi Piet,
I don't think there is much space in the IFS Hilux for the Cooler box, you would have to leave it on the floor or elsewhere. But it fits perfectly between the front bucket seats of the older SFA, one doesn't even have to fasten it down, it is a good fit and very handy to keep food warm in winter, or cold drinks cool in summer! :D

Your 87 baby....
Hi FD!
It may just be the photo, but it looks like your 87 baby has a smash and grab/ tints on the side windows and canopy??
If so, did you do it and what would you recommend?
I know it's still easy to break into a car with a window with smash and grab, but we want it mainly to make it more difficult for the spying eyes to see our stuff.
Cheers
Scotty

Re: F_D's Toys
Scotty, you will see I did it on my vehicle as well. One thing I can advice on, at the fitment centre they give you a sample to select your choice. The tinting is in fact a little bit darker than what the small samples look. To me the light Grey looked too light and the dark Grey seemed fine. After they fitted it I found that it is in fact a little bit too dark. The only problem I have with the darkness is that if you drive at night and you have to turn somewhere, you cannot see next to the vehicle and have to open a window. What I like about it is exactly what you want it for, I can leave my camera inside and nobody can see it. My advice will be to tint the back doors, back window and canopy with the dark one but the front doors you use a little bit lighter one. The dark ones are excellent when you drive and the sun sits just to your right, it filters it out nicely.

Re: F_D's Toys
Hi Scotty,
I wonder if it is Smash & Grab? Might well be, I always thought it was just dark tinting... I bought the bakkie like that. It makes a definite difference to the interior comfort levels, making the temperature inside the car more bearable during summer. It is more difficult to peer through it to see the contents of the car & canopy. In fact, the interior of the canopy is so dark that I was toying with the idea of removing the coating on the back window, but now on second thoughts, it can stay just like that!
One thing for sure, you will definitely need an air-conditioner in the old SFA bakkies, they seem to be much hotter during the summer months than the newer IFS, which presumably has better ceiling insulation or something.

Hi Guys
Is there any legal issues with tinting of windows.Or is it only illegal if you go totally black?

Hi george,
There is a legal requirement, off-hand I can't remember what the specifications say. I guess the fitment centres would (should) know.

Re: F_D's Toys
My bakkie passed road worthy with the dark grey ones, so I guess it should be legal. I would not go any darker. Reputable fitment centres like PG will not fit illegal stuff anyway.

The tonneau cover had its points, but I can transport valuable cargo (like my dogs!) more safely in the canopy. I was lucky enough to find a local Supplier for this twenty-one year old vehicle!
