Ek is al ’n paar jaar lid van die forum, maar het altyd in my stilligheid net gesit en kwyl oor die ander ouens se wiele – nou kan ek ook my fotos met julle deel.

Ou Arthur (aka Hiluxman) het amper twee jaar gelede al met min moeite my oorreed om die 7MGE conversion te doen. Die fisiese werk het ongeveer 'n jaar geduur en so ongeveer R25 000 later kon ek weer ry.

Ek besit die bakkie al 9 jaar - 'n 1989 standaard 2.2 4x4 D/C petrol met 220 000 kms afgele - maar in baie goeie toestand. Die oorspronklike enjin het skielik begin om headgaskets te blaas sonder dat hy oorverhit het en na 4 keer in 5 jaar het ek besluit dat 'n hartoorplanting die enigste opsie is.

Ek het die conversion self gedoen en het die inligting en raad wat ek op die forum raak gelees het slaafs gevolg - dit het baie gehelp (Baie dankie aan almal).

Ou Bennie (Benhur) het die elektroniese "magic" gedoen en die Diktator ECU geinstalleer - en my bygestaan met baie raad.

Ek het die petrol toevoer van die tenk af laat verander na 10mm en die terugvloei na 8mm. Ek gebruik 'n hoedruk (6bar) Bosh petrolpomp. Verkoeling is BMW 740 alluminium met twee elektriese waaiers.

Ek het nou al bietjie amper 500kms afgele en die enjin het darem nie verloor of ontplof nie, so lyk my ek het iewers iets reg gedoen.


Die Bullbar, Runningboards, Rollbar en Towbar gaan binnekort oor ge-powder coat word en dan lyk alles weer splinternuut ........

Na baie bloedsweet, vloek en trane lyk hy so ….
