The Kwagga II... KZTE on Steroids!
After many years of serious off-roading, my buddy Craig(Kwagga on the forum) decided to tone it down and buy something a little more overlanding/work/play orientated... and the original Kwagga SFA was replaced with the Kwagga II KZTE...
After a few outing the serious off-roading bug bit again and the Kwagga II underwent a bit of a transformation...
Pictures say it better than words... and this is just the start!

Come on Bretton, share some technical data with us, where, what and how much did it cost?

OK, enough calls, we did;
a 3 inch body lift
Pro Comp 4 inch lift kit
3,66 diff ratio's swopped out with 4.55
35" Maxxis Bighorns
16x10" rims
We thought about a Solid axle swop, but this is a daily driver, it handles suprisingly well and stops much better with the IFs and it retained the ride quality.

I love my new KWAGGA II !!
The bakkie drives exceptionally well, pulls better than before simply because of the ratios. Amazing!
Stock standard KZTE engine. No need for performance mods.
See you guys around on the trails.

Kwagga
How about some picks of the mods please, I'm very curious to know what exactly have been
done, what exactly is modified with a ProComp lift conversion, rear and front please.
The body lift is not an issue, easy job, but the rest?
Rear:
What shocks? Longer swing shackles? What blade springs? Was chassis suspension mountings extended?
Was the center bearing dropped?
Front:
Bolljoint lift? Swaybar convertion? Diff drop? Torsion bars? Shocks? Wishbones?
Basically I would like to know what exactly comes with a ProComp 4inch lift kit and what is changed.
Please Kwagga man, share your info, I like your IFS and would love to have my lux that high off mother earth.
Cheers

Whould the 2.7i diffs also have to be changed to 4.55?
I'm just wondering if diff ratio's are the same for the KZ and the 2.7i petrol?

Re: The Kwagga II... KZTE on Steroids!
Hi there Johannes
My diffs were changed from 3.77 (I think) to 4.55 (2.7i) ratios. I am guessing that you would need to go lower still for the 2.7 to handle.
At the back the height is achieved through blocks and really long shocks. The front is were all the money is. There are various parts and brackets that are fitted to increase the distance between diff and engine. There are extra support arms etc. I will send some pics soon.
Alan (Hoppy) has all the detail of the conversion. All I can testify to is that it is awsome.
I drove a SFA for years with 35s etc. This vehicle is awsome from a comfort point of view and from a offroad point of view. I do believe that the SFA would be a bit more robust. But I am planning a locker in the front so that I can approach obstacles with some finesse. The ground clearance is supurb and the attack and departure angles are excellent. The articulation is not as much as the SFA, therefore the locker.
I look forward to Easter, we are doing attaquas and burchell's.

What is the size of the block. I also have blocks in the rear but now my handbrake doesnt work because the block is in the way of the handbrake lever on the drum.

The blocks are 4" or 100mm, the handbrake levers clears the springs, if you have smaller blocks, you can extend the arms that mount on the drums.

What about axle tramp with those blocks and prop vibration because of the angle?

Re: The Kwagga II... KZTE on Steroids!
I had none of that problems. The prop vibrations that i do have is there since i bought the vehicle. Still need to find a decend propshaft place that can sort it out for me. I manage to live with it and just replace centre bearing every 6months

Re: The Kwagga II... KZTE on Steroids!
Nico, what you can do is put spacers between the chasis and the centre bearing and use longer bolts to drop the centre bearing down a bit. You will have to play with the spacers until the vibration stops. Best thing to use is washers until you get the right setup then you can make a solid spacer. That is the only way you will be able to save those bearings.

Can one of you confirm that the front suspension lift on this ifs was achieved by replacement of the following items.....
Component List
- Upper control arm spindle extentions
- Bump stop extentions
- Brake line and sway bar extentions
- Front diff drop down cross member and assembly
- Lower control arm rear brace support cross member
- Longer shocks
Allan, do you manufacture these parts yourself or was it all part of the Procomp 4" lift kit?
I had n good look at a similar 4" Lift kit and the parts don't look difficult to manufacture, it's just the geometry
that needs to be done right in order to prevent damage to steering & cv components.
Please confirm I'm on the right track.
