1979 Hilux 4x4 S/C

Post by Johann Prinsloo »

Hi guys

As you can see, I have been on the forum for quite a while.

It was a sad day end of last year when I sold my pride and joy 1996 2.4 D/C Hilux..

But I am now the owner of a "grandpa" Hilux and will start fixing him up asap.

I plan to:
1. Get rust removed and get it painted + new windscreen
2. Sand blast rims and bullbar and powder coat
3. Front to back servicing and replacing of parts, seals, etc that needs replacing eg. mastercylinder, universals, bearings, seals brake lines, gearbox diif and transfer oils etc etc
4. 4 x new tyres that fit the biscuits
5. Suspension; blades in the front and shocks + bushes all round
6. Waxyol coating to everything underneath
7. Interior; replace window winder and try to make dash look better - bench seat still in excellent nick.

Bakkie only has 64 000km original km's on.
Belonged to my wifes grandfather.
Family neglected it by letting it stand for 7 years on the farm..

Now I will look after it.

Cheers

For a 79 Long Bed, the truck looks to be in great shape. Glad you are putting the time and money into saving it..
