Round 3 - Another Hilux is Reborn

Post by Boltz »

Seems I cant stop myself, so here we go again....it wont be a full body off restoration like the last one (got my asking price for it) because my wife will shoot me...lol

Basic details on this one is a normal DC in need of some love, replacing both front doors and fenders, rust in driver foorwell.....replacing windows....then full interior, respray, getting current 4Y running smooth and will later replace with the ford 2.5 Tdi.

Let the games begin

Nice project!

How do you tackle the rust in the footwell?

Successfull shopping mission, new front doors, new front fenders, new grill and light surrounds.....woohoo....and new window winder mechs. All for R4600

For the rust....seeing that it is more than surface rust I am going to cut it out and reweld a completely new steel section in, taking sheet metal bending baffles in and then reweld. Should take about a day to do.

All done in house

AHOI! MY HILUX IS BEING RESURRECTED

Post by CAMO JACK »

Same boat as you cuz. My Old "TRAWANT" is being resurrected into his 5th incarnation( in 20 years), single cab, head on collision- new chassis, slight rollover-softtop, cracked chassis- new chassis dc body, almost sold as scrapmetal by a mofo tik addict who stole it and busted the gearbox, parked for close on 2 years(lack of funds) -now gettin a basic rebuild before I take my fiance and her mom for a 4x4 trail holiday to the Korannaberg and Clarens. thereafter the rest of the rebuild. My guns are under lock and key and my fiance will stay jus that until that Bosyota is suitable to carry her off on a honeymoon to Kgalagadi and NAM-ibia. good luck with your project and let me know if you need a secondhand gunsafe, my botanical technician has contacts for slightly damaged ones!
