Congrats Tony!

I think you're going to find the 2.5 a bit sluggish when it's kitted and loaded - surprised that Edge allowed you to buy it! (He's gonna moan like a stuffed pig when you're unable to keep up - screwing up the itinerary! :laugh2: )

After becoming the proud owner of my d4d 2,5 vigo 4x4 a few weeks ago, I have made a few modifications to the hilux. Firstly I fitted four new tyres onto 15 inch genuine Toyota rims I managed to acquire. I will use two of the original 16 inch wheels for spares as the outer diameter is the same as my new wheels.
IMG_9831.JPG

I also fitted a snorkel from 4x4 Direct which was sold to one of our local members, who had not yet fitted it to his hilux.
IMG_9833.JPG

The snorkel replaces this intake piece behind the fender.
IMG_9842.JPG

I installed an extra fuse box and relays with mounted bases inside my engine compartment to accommodate axillary components like spots, driving lights,2 way radio etc.
IMG_9835.JPG

I also installed an after market bull bar/bumper to my Hilux which I acquired from a client who recently replaced the bull-bar after it had fallen off his vigo and he had driven over it. I managed to repair it and installed new driving and indicator lights to it. My son Brad (Thirdgeer) kindly sprayed it for me.I welded metal plates to the bull-bar to replace the rubber spacers which normally fit onto the bull-bar to finish of the gap off between the bull-bar and the headlights.

I also fitted some internal gussets for additional strength as well as high-lift jack points.

I will be installing my vhf radio to my hilux over the next few days.Thankfully I already own the radio and antenna which was removed from my previous hilux which I recently sold. I will mount the radio above the rear-view mirror,as in my previous hilux.I also plan to provide extra power points adjacent to the vhf radio to provide power for a gps and other gadgets etc.

The next mod will be installing a decent suspension, most likely OME,. I will also look at other options available as soon as the bucks are available or when my "SHIP COMES IN" Swambo is already eating dry bread and black coffee to accommodate my d4d's extras. I wish I was born RICH :disgust:

Wish I was born RICH!
Hehe, don't we all! :D:

It's coming along nicely with neatly done work! Well done so far, Tony! Looking good!

We spent the bast part of yesterday with Tony and Edge (and Swambo's of course) - good times! Have seen what he's done so far in a short space of time - it's a lot more than what you see in those pics. I think he's been burning the candle on both ends to achieve this while still attending to daily business!

What he doesn't tell you is that while he has been without a Lux, he has been using this as a recovery / tow vehicle (it was parked off to one side) - note the high-level recovery point and the professional manner in which the recovery / tow strap is secured!

I must have done some good deeds recently as my luck really turned for the better.A mate who owned a dc d4d 3l vigo 4x4,son had a mishap and rolled the 4x4 resulting in. a buckled vehicle. Anyway, the insurance are not giving him any extra bucks for the OME syspention installed .I managed to buy the OME SYSPENTION for a fraction of the cost of a new syspention. All i had to to was swop my standard and do the fitting swop to both vehicles.I will finnish my new installation at SPARROW FARTS tomorrow morning. This syspention came at a time when I have really extended my budget but I could not miss out on this Bargain.

TOUGH job, but somebody has to do it ... :siffler: :siffler:

GELUK !!!!

May it miles of smiles on your face :cooldude: :laugh2: :tease: :dance1:

YES, the 2,5D4D is a "bit sluggish" ..... but just do as the Mr Hoppy guided me with mine :
- replace the BIG silencer box with a small free flow box - IMMEDIATE improvement !!!
- then fit an intercooler ...
- to get the full benefit have it chipped and dyno-ed ... (and then also have an EGT fitted !!)

did I say - ENJOY it :cooldude:

Hope that the Silverline T-shirt is referring to the hairline... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That Hilux is looking great with the mods. There are many that I know about that are not included in the mentioned list...
