Hi there,

Like many other 2.8 diesels at the time, this one has a bit of engine history as well, which I documented here: http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/sho ... hp?t=24029" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. However, has been running like clockwork since new engine fitted by Helderberg Toyota (thanks, Altus!) at 98,000 km. Still sub-150K now, so looking forward to many more kilometres in this noisy, slow, but reliable vehicle. Has been keeping full service and fuel records, getting around 9 km/l over 16 years of ownership, best was 11 km/l, worst was 8.5.

For those interested in the improvements:

1. Compressor for air pump (check Frikkie Cronje's workmanship), this has a stainless steel reservoir under the chassis and outlets inside the bakkie alongside the rear seats, used with ARB tyre pump with stretchable plastic hose (its gauge is accurate, so well worth the cost)

Image

2. Slide, battery box and water tank (Jean Theart's craftsmanship is something to be appreciated). Ally table slips in under slide.

3. Console (Jean Theart) and seat covers

4. 2nd battery: Raylite lasted many years now

5. Flush towbar

6. OME and recovery hook. The installers messed it up, so I had to take it apart again, remove one front blade, and all was well again.

7. Reliable Jean Theart solenoid installation

So, thanks to all the guys that have made this a reliable, vastly improved vehicle.

Hoofbattery hou so 3 tot 4 jaar, koop net Raylites. As ek die slag onthou, sit ek die charger op hom so een keer elke 2 maande.

Kompressor werk baie goed, pomp vinniger as garage lugpompe.
