Trevor - my 2cente oor die kleur - as ek mag??

Maak hom dieselfde kleur as die sand op Duin 9 daar by Swakop! Ek dink hulle noem hom Kalahari of Khaki.

So my voorstelle:
1. Los hom blou
2. Desert Sand
3. Metallic Grey

Better to leave it the original blue, Trevor. No unnecessary hassles like stripping out the wiring / pipes / ancillaries on the firewall and front wheel arches. No need to strip out the door seals, door panels, seats, dash, floor mats and hood lining. Also much cheaper to just do the outside where necessary (easy colour to match now and for future) which allows you to spend money on other mods / upgrades. Metallics are difficult to match, and even if one gets it to match, in 6 months it's faded and different from the original .... you don't have those problems with non-metalics.

For the motor, keep it simple .... black block, silver heads if they're still the cast iron ones, (otherwise polish them if they're aluminium) and black or blue (same colour as the bakkie) tappet covers and black air cleaner / ducting.

Just my opinion. ;-)

You need to skim a groove in the FLYWHEEL. I remember now, to clear the rivets on the clutch plate.

Dankie Andrew

I would think that you should rather stick to a mild steel sump ..... It's softer and wont crack as easy if it gets whacked. Also a lot easier to repair / weld if you're nowhere near a workshop with a TIG welder.

Then it's also a lot easier to just modify the existing sump ... the base with all the holes in the correct places and journal cut-aways are already there. :winkx:

Could you please forward me the mails if you don't mind?

My 2.2 is needing a rebuild, and I'm looking at options while I wait for her to be returned.

I can get a 3.0L out of a Lux now for roughly 6K complete with all the bell housing, clutch, mounts ect..... it'll just need a carb?

Decisions, decisions :blackeye:

Hi Zane, if it is okay with Andrew I will trry mailing you this weekend, just remeber ii is 20+ mb of data files....

Thanks Trevor/Andrew

As for the boring of the cylinders, I'm not sure what a reasonable price is as I haven't had to do any work like that in years, although saying that, I might be heading that way soon.

OK I just phoned around here in PE and you looking at roughly R900 to bore out the 6 cylinder and if you planning on having the heads done, you looking at roughly R1,4 for both heads, so I don't know what other options you have up there for engineering works.

Further, how's the work going any pics of progress?

   Trevor, I'll gladly post your pics for you!  As far as the re-bore goes, I'm not sure although it does sound a little pricey. But first question, does it need a re-bore? Did they mic the cylinders (Micrometer)? If you can get away without the re-bore and just have the ridges cut, that would be better as a re-bore cuts away all the case hardening on the cylinder walls and re-bored motors therefore don't last as long. :winkx:

Gaan ek 1 of 2 gebbruik?

Essex klink en lyk net beter as Ford...
